i just built myself an operating system. It took me less then a week. Linux from scratch. It doesn't do very much but it does have emacs. It is extremely barebones, doesn't even have X (graphical support), but I built it all from source code. Before you go and judge me, let me just say that i fucking followed a recipe and i had very few problems ( Read more... )

well you need to do lfs first. i think as long as we communicate and document things well ("I am on page foo, these are the previous problems i ran into", etc), we can each work on it individually. for blfs, we should have a meeting and discuss what applications we want before we continue building. we do not follow the blfs page to page, it is more of a large resource showing us how to install stuff on our lfs system.
