MOD POST: State of the community

Hey all you trashy eaters! I've made a few changes to the community, most of which won't affect any of you.

First off, I'd like to welcome my new co-mod, eternalflame4. Please don't abuse her too much :)

Secondly, I have made the community partially moderated. This should not affect any current users, except those who may have joined while I was in the process ( Read more... )

I like all these changes, and I hope this keeps the spam out (not the food, this *is* trashy_eats after all)

Not that it will probably ever affect me anyway, but I don't really like the rule about off-topic things being only allowed on Tuesday. It's not like it really happens often enough to regulate, so I feel like if someone has some silly news about the new mini-pizza-in-place-of-a-taco-shell at Taco Bell, they should post it whenever.
I would rather have a rule saying something to the effect of "We already know about bacon lube, chapstick, wallets, splosions, etc so please don't post the same bacon meta for the billionth time here. If you're unsure if it's a new and exciting discovery, please try to take 5 minutes to give our archives a cursory search via tags and [however the heck people search comm posts]."
I don't think this community has enough (or any) drama to merit presumptuous babysitter rules and feel like making a big deal will cause more problems than it alleviates.
That said, anyone with links to the aforementioned olive oil etc drama, I would love to read those posts.

Ha! Thanks for the rundown on the wank, though. I actually remember that entry but don't think it struck my interest enough to read the comments. Silly me.
