Gorgeous. I love the contrasting descriptions in lines like tattered rags melt into the finest silk and the gun fire that was ringing in your head has become trumpets and magnificent flutes. I loved this movie :) You captured the beautiful imagery in it really well.
so i just fell in love with you. that was so beautiful. i love the bit where she thinks "Mother is glorious, and she is happy, like an angel." i feel like it is v. appropriate for ofelia since she is constantly longing for her mother's happiness. and it just seems very suiting that she compares her mother to an angel in the land of fantasy she has erected for herself.
Oh! You totally get a gold star for picking out the line that I was happiest with :-D Because I absolutely wanted to capture exactly what you were talking about, that deep need she has to see her mother truly happy, especially after everything that's happened.
and let's have a fall wedding b/c it's prettiest then. =] and you can wear white if you'd like, but i know you'd much rather wear THE RAINBOW. and i'll try to get a little leprachaun too =b
Wow, I didn't expect you to have seen this gem of a movie. Not only that, but you wrote a beautiful little fic to go along with the memory of how the movie ended.
I love the contrast of the real world fading into the fantasy, that was always the reality. As though Civil War Spain was the fake and she just had to find a way to her real home, and her real station, as princess. I loved how you took it from her point of view through a second person...obviously you knew you did that, but my point is, it worked well. I kept picturing the movie, and your words made those smiles she had brighten in my mind. Ah see, now I"m blathering. bravo.
Really? I'm almost exclusively interested in fantasy/SF films and TV shows, despite my long-standing foray into 1960s Wyoming. ;)
As though Civil War Spain was the fake and she just had to find a way to her real home, and her real station, as princess. Yes, yes, yes, yes. The best part of the film is that it really left it all up to your interpretation, and that's mine to T... of course, I could totally see it the other way, too, but I'm partial to the idea that she was really going home when she went to the beautiful kingdom.
And yay I love you! Since I haven't been mentioning that enough lately. Also, I totally need to get my booty down to L.A. and visit.
