All I need is a wooden flute and I'll have my own little musical orgy.

Today, deardotti and I oh-so-innocently went out to buy some vanilla soy ice cream to accompany the brownies she'd just made us.

Instead, we came back with:

$100 worth of groceries (including three cans of garbanzo beans and four frozen burritos because I was HUNGRY SHOPPING and no, really, I needed all those beans), a small jade turtle (a late Christmas ( Read more... )

*does not have a wooden flute, but offers her own silver flute and her roommate's recorder and tin whistle*

Oooh, neat! I never really got the hang of silver flutes; I remember in middle school trying to play my friends', but I was always more of a clarinet girl myself. I take it you play?

I played in band in middle school and then took private lessons in high school, and now I don't really play much at all. A fun hobby, but nothing I want to do seriously after school or whatever. :)

I've always loved the sound of clarinets (when played well, anyway, hehe) but have sadly never picked one up. Clarinets are cool. :D

Ah, yeah, I'm much the same with the clarinet; it was fun to play in the middle school band, but if I had one now I doubt I'd do more than take it out at parties just for fun or whatnot. I think part of the reason I like the drums is because they don't require any assembly or complicated parts, they're always just ready to be picked up and played whenever the mood hits!

I'd thought I might be hard-pressed to think more highly of you, but OMG YOU HAVE A DIDGERIDOO. ♥! If you can actually play it, I may have to marry you (such a hardship).

DO I HEAR THE SOUND OF WEDDING BELLS, PRAY TELL?

Sound kinda sucks, and HAHAHA, CIRCULAR BREATHING, WHAT'S THAT?, but I've had lots of fun messing around with it!

Bwah! Oh, yes: I vow to love, to cherish, and never, ever, ever to make an honest woman out of you.

And I will accompany you with comparable skill on piano, guitar, recorder, or clarinet. Yes, I played the latter in school and still have mine, too. ;-)

I was positive I already had that other journal of yours on one of my Friends lists -- yet, apparently, not. Huh. I'm going to add it now, but if you'd rather I remove it or you'd rather not add it in turn, that's okay.

And I vow to love, cherish, and revel in the fact that you are wise enough not to try to make an honest woman out of me! I will play didge in bed and give you all the massages you could ever want. <3

Oooh, piano and guitar. Two instruments I cannot wrap my head around. We are totally instrumentally made for each other. My mom kept my recorder, haha, but alas I didn't keep either my clarinet or bass clarinet. I probably wouldn't even know what to do with one if I tried to pick it up now, sadly!

Oh, no problem at all. I'll add you back next time I log into it :D It may go slowly defunct as I use this journal more, but there'll probably be some posts that just "feel" like they should go there, occasionally, so I don't think it'll be completely purposeless to add it. :D

FOOD! *grabby hands* I love beans and burritos very much. And brownies! Mmm, I really have to bake a batch soon. It's been quite a while since the last time.

I suck, because I don't play a musical instrument. I used to have piano lessons, but the piano hates me (my brother is crazy-good with the piano). I've always wanted to play guitar, though. Plus bass and drums.

I had the giganticest burrito today. I nearly couldn't function after I ate it. It was so delicious, but so frighteningly filling.

Well, I didn't play a musical instrument for years. It doesn't mean you suck! I play now because I'm inspired to, but even when I played instruments in middle school it was more for the class than because I wanted to.

Guitar and bass and drums are fun. I've fiddled around with bass a bit and it's not that hard to pick up the basics of it. Guitar seems way harder to me. Drums have a pretty steep learning curve, but it's so worth it, because I think that after learning to play drums many other instruments with seem easier, because drums will really enhance your rhythm.

Mmm, burrito.

There's this girl in our youth group who plays some wicked drums. It's amazing and completely brilliant. A couple of my cousins play guitar, the electric Iron-Maiden-esque type of songs guitar. They're pretty good. And, heck, Guitar Hero is real damn fun too. Maybe when I'm away from home and get to make a couple of decisions myself.

Wait, wait, do you play Guitar Hero? (I've been looking for someone who plays so I can pick their brain about this story I want to write.)

Eeek, yeah, making decisions for oneself is really an essential element to life, in my experience. I can't wait for you to have that. <3
