Neither Ema or Phoenix knew it would be their last night together in Discedo as they sat on the couch together. The next morning the household would find Ema missing, later to return seven years younger. But for now, Discedo hardly even mattered to the two. It was about spending necessary time together and in their usual place. Tonight, they ( Read more... )

"You're definitely not holding back tonight, huh?" Phoenix teased, unable to help himself. When they weren't bickering, being around Ema put him in an unusually good mood -- and the amount of alcohol that he'd already consumed tonight. If he had known that this would be their last night in Discedo together like this, then things would have been considerably different. As it was, he was just glad to have her company like this. And well, the promise of alcohol had never exactly been an unwelcome one to the attorney; sharing a bottle with someone had always been a good way to unwind, especially after spending so much time in a place like this.

Ema was always happy to have Phoenix around, he was reliable and... well, he was Phoenix. If she was in a bad mood she could count on him to be there. Even if he was occasionally her verbal punching bag, she loved him all the same.

"What's the point? When we're in a place like this, we should go all out every night."

"I'm not sure that Discedo will be any easier to deal with if we're hungover every day," Phoenix laughed, grinning at her. "Though I will admit that the idea is pretty tempting!" And it was. Sometimes he wondered how he made it through every day here, and in fact he was often asked. He'd nearly been here for two years, after all, though there were some who had been here a lot longer. After times like these with Ema, though, it wasn't difficult to figure out the answer.

"Okay, I could live without the hang over part," she said, cringing as she remembered the morning she woke up in Apollo's bed. That was by far the worst morning she had ever experienced as far as drinking went. "You think if they could bring us all the way to some run-down planet the least they could do is keep us from getting hang overs." Ema rolled her eyes, taking another drink from the bottle of delicious alcohol.

Funny thing was, it wasn't much different for Ema. Discedo had been a lot harder to her to handle; it went against everything she had ever believed in. Things like this belonged in books and movies, not her new everyday life. But getting to spend time with Phoenix? Somehow made it a little more bearable. It was unexpected, but in Discedo she could honestly say she found her best friend. Back home the two never would have had a chance to get nearly as close as they had.
