Hi all.

I'm gonna be cross-posting this to the ftm community, too, fyi.

But I've got a question and didn't find it in the tags although I might've not gone far back enough (you can only go so far before your mind starts to mix around the words and it all looks the giberish).  Anyway, I recently had top surgery with Dr. Costas here in Massachusetts.  He ( Read more... )

Request your state's exact written policy (not her summation of it, but the official one) on what their standard is. It's entirely possible that you just got some genital essentialist who's overstepping her authority (possibly without realizing it).

Please post the written policy on this community if you receive something from MA. My fiance lives in MA, and we are working on getting his birth certificate changed. He had chest surgery with Dr. Melissa Johnson who doesn't write letters and a hysterorectomy with a gynocologist who won't write a letter. We plan to talk with Fenway to see if he can get a letter. Knowing what needs to be in the letter would be helpful to us and otehrs as well.

Hi, I don't have the exact written policy, only her summation of it, but I'll be sending out a letter to her and request the word-for-word official one.

I'll definitely let you know and if I forget, don't hesitate to follow up with me on it in a few weeks. I should have sent something out (or received a response) by then.

Maybe contact MTPC and/or the Trans Legal Advocates.

The next free legal clinic is next week.

In Mass. you can get both passport changed with a note from your primary care doc, and your driver's license changed as well, without needing lower surgery. So those documents, at least, you can change.

Also, in the meantime, if you have any luck at Fenway, please let me know. I have my HRT done there so I'll be asking them about this at some point but it would help to know who to see (or who to avoid).
