You might want to call the doctor's office and ask them, because there's not a standard procedure. Some doctors want a letter from a therapist before they'll prescribe hormones, others use 'informed consent' and just need you to go over the risks and effects of hormones with them, and maybe sign something saying you understand and want to go ahead. Some doctors want to do some blood tests before starting hormones to make sure you're healthy and to help figure out what dose you need, others do the bloodwork at the same time you start, and some will start patients with no other health problems on hormones and just check your blood in a couple of months to see how things are coming.

Also, what kind of doctor are you seeing? A general practitioner, endocrinologist, gynecologist... Not every doctor is qualified or willing to prescribe HRT, so if you haven't asked (or haven't gotten this doctor/clinic recommended by another trans person) I'd suggest you at least ask them if they prescribe HRT, lest you waste your time and money.

Well, I don't know. I'm a trans guy, and I'm not too familiar with the side-effects and stuff of estrogen and spiro, and I don't know the doctor, so IDK. If you comfortable with it, you might want to edit the post to give the name of the place you're going to, and/or to ask people who have high blood pressure or take the same meds as you if that was a problem for them. But my guess is, you'll be fine. Good luck!

When I started Spironolactone, my doctor asked me why.
I told him.
He said:
Oh, okay, and because it's for high blood pressure we can probably have it covered on you policy.
When it came to hormones however, besides him authorizing tests, I was on my own.
Good luck on your journey.
