christinemax and I have discussed the issue of discussing 'Harry Benjamin Syndrome' and other various identities, and the potential divisiveness thereof. We've decided to continue to allow those discussions for the time being, but with the caveat that if we see community rules being broken, appropriate action will be taken. I agree, I'm glad you two decided to keep it open

I was probably a little on the hostile side, unfortunately, in my response, but I'll try to be a little less jumpy in the future.

It is an important discussion to have, and we are all one community in the larger overarching sense, so we should really try to work together and be strong together. Not let something divide us like this. Only discussion can do that

Er, that sounds like I'm saying only discussion can divide us. I mean only discussion can unite us. Ha, I rock at making sense

I was pretty hostile as well, but I honestly stand by what I said. I'm not going to roll over when someone dismisses my condition as a fad or a fetish and expects a pat on the back.

Sometimes being "civil" (e.g. shutting up when attacked and being a good little victim) isn't the best course of action.

As a mod, frankly I don't care whether you stand by what you said or not. If you don't abide by the rules, you won't be allowed to say. You don't have to like what other people say, but you do have to be respectful. If you don't understand the difference between being respectful and being a doormat, I'm sorry, but all I care about is whether you abide by the community rules.

Sounds like a good idea. The shit has been really hitting the fan on other internet sites/communities over this in the last month also. But I'm glad you're keeping it open for discussion.
