I think the widespread use of the term 'transgender' to describe people such as myself perpetuates the false image of us being 'men trying to be a woman', or, as this often is used to mean, 'circus freaks ( Read more... )

I realize that the term comes loaded and it is unfortunate that we even need one. I have no love for it either, but we must have a name to give it because we must have a name to defend. I consider myself to be female, however, there are instances where the peculiarity of being TS must be identified. I think that even with the unpopularity that TG encompasses, it is a neccessary evil. Michelle
