Anyone hear about a once a month estrogen delivery system? My doctor says that it a sub dermal "bead" that time-releases over 30 days. I think I'm in hormonal lust!
That's affirmative! I used to have the primary literature around here somewhere, wherein it was concluded that variation in E level was what it was all about.
I do this and it's not once a month. It's once every three to four months. The pellets are placed just under the skin at the top of the buttocks. It's the greatest! However, it can be expensive. I pay $1200 every three months. I get 12 pellets (a fairly high dose) and the booster shots. The booster shots are self administered once a month and provide the "fluctuation" along with progesterone for breast development. Below is the link to my doctor.
I'm also a patient of Dr. O'Dea (since 2001) and have had excellent results. There is sufficient cycling to get decent development, and he's willing to work with you to help get the best results for your body. I'm several years post op and still go to Dr. O'Dea for maintenance levels of hormones. I have heard that a few other Endos are offering a similar pellet service, though I don't have any details.
Dr. Horowitz in L.A. also does pellets. And a friend here in the bay area said her doctor is talking about starting using them (but I don't know his name). I know there is at least one other doctor on the west coast who does this but can't remember his name either. If I come across anything more specific, I'll post it.
This has never happened to me. I've had only problem free experiences. However, one of my friends did have that happen to her. Her incision didn't heal quickly and one of the pellets worked its way out. She didn't get it reinserted and just went without until her next appointment. Another friend got a small infection at the insertion site and had to take antibiotics for a few weeks. But everything worked out fine. So yes. Anytime someone takes a scalpel to you, no matter how small the incision, there can be issues. But at this point in time, I wouldn't change anything. About the only thing that would make me switch to IM injections would be money. Like if I lost my job or something. As long as I can afford it, this will be my preferred method of HRT.

I couldn't be happier and everyone I've met who also see Dr. O'Dea is also complaint free. The clinic is extremely TG aware and friendly.
