I love your responses to Albury. I can't return without some pain, and I don't go back very often at all. But it's very familiar, the shock of seeing a modernised Dean St (cafes and all!) and the sense of almost undefinable strangeness. Your mention of the library conjures images of the way it was in the eighties, remember the lurid green carpet?

Albury was home from 1979 to 1992. I like to imagine we passed each other in the street, some time in that period. :)

I'd love to believe that we did :) I grew up in Wodonga - and so don't remember the lurid green carpet, but there are so many bits of each section that are so familiar, sometimes unchanged and sometimes it's a recognition beneath the new veneer.
