Shit shit shit shit. I'm having the same problem with my Master of Philosophy (Fine Arts) Proposal for Newcastle University that I have with writing job applications.

When I start, my mind just seems to freeze up and my IQ drops by half (I suffer from depression and panic attacks). I got the application done for the library job because I had no ( Read more... )

Step 1: Take a deep breath.
Step 2: Have a friend come over
Step 3: Turn on a tape recorder
Step 4: Tell your friend what research you want to do, how you want to do it, why, etc. Its much less scary when you are talking to a buddy
Step 5: Let the friend ask questions
Step 6: Answer the questions and turn off tape recorder
Step 7: Transcribe the tape
Step 8: Use the information to make a rough draft of your proposal
Step 9: Fill in all the gaps
Step 10: Have a few friends look it over
Step 11: Revise
Step 12: Repeat steps 9-11 as necessary
Step 13: Have your advisor look at it
Step 14: Submit it to the school

Personally I think the idea of a trans tarot deck is pretty cool. :)

... I want to see your trans tarot deck... :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the proposal-- get something down and in so they can start to evaluate your application... no application, 0% chance of admission ...

I have the same problem when writing papers (I'm working on my Masters in Psychology), and find that if I just sit down, forget I'm writing a paper for a professor to read, pretend I'm writing to my best friend for his input - things just seem to flow. Then I polish it up...polish it up again - usually this step is repeated multiple times - get it to that "academic form" place, then turn the damned thing in and move on to the next! :)

Good luck...your deck looks fabulous!
