This is a reminder that the ship's educational system is still in need of more teachers, and I see that some of our new recruits have been volunteering. We already have a couple of people taking different subjects, but here are a few of the subjects we could stand to have people teaching ( Read more... )

I'm interested in taking some classes. What kinds of things are on the diagnostic exams?

The diagnostic exams test you on math, physical and natural sciences, writing and reading comprehension. The idea is that you work until the questions become too advanced or complicated for you to answer easily, and that I use this information to place and instructors use this information to teach individual students more efficiently.

Oh! That sounds really effective.

I'll come pick one up later. You're Mr. Gentry, right?

I guess I could use something to do.

How does teaching kids to blow things up with evaporated goat urine sound?

Basic chemistry, huh?

What else you got?

Gimme a minute.

Uh, refining common materials into new materials with explosive properties. Mourning. The Torah. The Upanishads. The Bhagavad Gita. Tao. Calligraphy. The New Testament. Every language ever spoken. Yoga. And other things I'm willing to bet nobody here wants kids learning.

Also kung fu and Jew-do, but those aren't things you learn by doing two hours out of the week.

You had free time on your hands, you said?

Also, mourning?

I can offer up Literature, Writing and Magical Tutoring. I'm licensed to do all of those things back home. Oh and English in case that's not everyone's main language.

Describe your magic to me.

Literature and writing are all yours, and I can put you up for English as a second class. Keep in mind the translation engines might make any linguistic classes . . . interesting to conduct.

What times can I sign you up for, and what dates?

Magical theory and systems based in Latin for the most part, as it's a fundamental system of spells based around everything from the smallest spells to the highest so far. Magic Archer, Fortunetelling, Divination, all of those things. Along with a smattering of basic to high level damage spells.

I'll take Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 3.

How about 15:30, Mondays and Fridays for an hour?

I have someone signed up to teach yoga now from 13-14 Monday through Friday. If you're not busy at 1400 hours, meditation would be a logical follow-up.
