Might as well get to business here. The quicker they figure out the details of the plague, the quicker they can figure out the medical supplies necessary, and the quicker they can say goodbye to this backwoods planet and get home.

At least it's just a petrification plague, instead of one that makes you cough up chunks of your insides. Howard's feeling ill at ease. Working in medical is one thing, but a combination of plague and insects killed almost a quarter of the kids in Perdido, and he'd much rather be deployed to deal with combat injuries than sickness.

"What are the quarantine measures here?"

The head nurse consulted her chart. "As you can see, we're rather firmly in the middle of a technological revolution, but we've been keeping people in isolation. Sterile sheets, boiled water, that sort of thing. Your GIA has been good enough to offer advanced treatments but so far it hasn't been as effective as our Last Elixir."

"But we're running short on that too," added the nurse. "We've got maybe twenty more doses, and treatment takes time. A week tops to see results. The last batch has been weak due to a lack of fresh ingredients."

"So you know for sure that this thing's viral and contagious instead of coming through the food or some kind of magical spell?" Can never be too sure with all that stupid magic everywhere. "What's the active mechanism behind the Last Elixir?"

Lovely. Short on resources. That's never a problem. Howard chews on the tip of his pen, hearing the plastic make squeaky noises inside his mouth. "Can you give me a writeup on the ingredients for Last Elixir? Maybe we can do some substitutes for the ingredients we're short on and make some makeshift batches."

"Another world, much like Roak," mused Reimi, looking out over the view of the city. "And this place, it's so much like the city we spent there. Maybe this is one way of saying 'we exist in this world' amidst other things."

She smiled as she began to take notes on the process.

"You've been to a place like this?" Miyako asked, approaching the older woman. It was still surprising - just got out of the pods (again) and she was already on her first mission on some alien world.

"Yeah. Although it wasn't for this whole reason, but similar instances cropped up once before on the plant of Roak," said Reimi, turning towards Miyako. "The location isn't exact but the overall layout of the landscape is familiar."

"Wow..." Miyako uttered. There was a few brief silent moments before she spoke once more. "...this is still so surreal. I mean, I've been to other places not really on Earth and yet..."

Rachel was kind of wondering why she was there, for her own part-- she was hardly proficient in anything medical-related, she wasn't even affiliated with the department. There were a few people on the team who would be qualified, and that left Rachel with doing nothing. Exploring the town, fetching supplies, distribution, whatever. The only reason she could see herself being that helpful would be if they were expecting a fight, or some trouble, or something.

A part of her hoped there would be.

For the time being, Rachel wandered a little aimlessly, bored, about the town. Maybe she could at least run into someone interesting to talk to, while she waited for whatever work they had to do to begin.

Having checked supplies, Reimi was out and about at the local apothecaries for the supplies. Pulling a wagon behind her, she noticed Rachel across the way. Waving at her, she called out to her. "Hey!"

Rachel stopped when she heard the voice calling out to her, since she was pretty clearly the one being addressed in this situation. She turned on her heel, looking over the other crewmate-- one who was taking charge here, but Rachel didn't really know well.

"Hey," Rachel said, pulling one hand up in a half wave.

"Sorry we didn't get to know one another too much, but I'm Reimi obviously." said Reimi. "Are you getting to know the layout of the city?"

The Sickness/Attack on the Castle

Without warning, there was a loud explosion coming from the castle. Fire crews responded immediately, but in the midst of the scene, a trio of cloaked enemies rushed away across the rooftops, carrying a precious satchel.

"GET THEM!" roared a guard. "They're stealing all the rest of the Last Elixir!"

Rachel swore at the sight and the shout, and she immediately took off running in that direction, to get a head start as she started up a morph. She needed speed, but she also needed altitude. Cheetah would make most sense for sheer speed, but if she couldn't get up there...

As she ran, her bones began to hollow out, and her feet to shift. Naturally it'd take the route that would slow her down most-- but the faster she got to eagle form the better.

"We've done it!" cackled the first, leaping across a gap between the buildings. "We've got all the rest of the Last Elixir!"

"And perfect timing too, brother," laughed the second. "Harland?"

"Mmm," replied the third, big and quiet. "Keep eye out."

As soon as Rachel got into her eagle form enough to take to the sky, she did. Shooting into the air, she scanned the rooftops with the sharpened eyesight until she spotted the guys she'd seen before. Silently, she shot after them, trying to close in on them so she could attack from above.
