Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read ( Read more... )

The situation isn't much better, even if she was clean and dressed now.

Looking gloomy and miserable Kriem moved through the crowd like a ghost. At least here she didn't stand out, at least among this mishmash of cast aways, orphans and endangered species she was just another face in the crowd.

Jake never made her feel that way, he made her feel different...but in a good way.

For the first time since she arrived she reached up and ran her fingers through her hair. She knew it was gone when she died, but Stacy must have restored it.

A small comfort. Like having a pillow while sitting on a bed of nails.

With a car alarm going off near you.

In the rain.

Oh, look. A gloomy, miserable young woman who looked out of place. Zouichi slipped through the crowd to match her pace. "Are you all right, miss?"

She didn't look all right, but it was more of an offer to help than anything else.

She frowned at being spoken to, she really would have been perfectly content to fade a way into nothingness but it would be rude not to respond.

"Of coarse not."

Because saying it like that was so much more polite.

Okay, oblique approach not recommended. He tilted his head slightly, acknowledging her response.

"It is a lot to take in. But as someone may have explained to you already, your world may not be lost forever. If you're concerned about anyone you know, I've been here for a little while, so I might be able to tell you if they're here or not."

Maxine, for her own part, was a little distraught. She only felt slightly more comfortable now that she was no longer naked. It was a plus, at least, but it was moving and she was still trying to figure out what was going on. She'd been reading the guide they were given, while she tried to process it all, but she felt a little alone. She didn't see anyone she recognised, at least not yet. She clutched a large green witches hat to herself, strands of hair moving just slightly in her own personal breeze.

At least the 'others' thing made sense now. Maybe they could help her figure it all out. The world couldn't really be gone, right? She was worried about her friends, and she was scared by the thought. But maybe people could clear things up for her, further. She was just having trouble getting over the 'destroyed worlds' part still. Even if there was a way to get them back.

"Nice hat." Jinx remarked scanning the girl from head to toe. "It's really sharp." The neo-classic witch look was a good one in her book.

And it didn't help that she was clearly bummed out. Jinx didn't need all her studies in body language to tell her that.

"Oh, thank you," Maxine said, managing a smile to this other girl. She was down, yes, but she had to try and be positive, right? "That's nice of you to say. I always worried people thought it was kind of silly. But I like it. The 'witch' theme is a lot of fun."

"It's all about how you wear it." Jinx agreed running her fingers through her own hair. "So you have the whole theme thing working for you? Are you actually a witch?" Wouldn't be the first one she'd met.

Clothed in the disgusting plant suit once more, Janet set out to look for her boyfriend. "Hank? Where are you?" She called out as she meandered through the crowd.

Hank was here to see who the new crew members were. The last time he was here, he shared a tender goodbye with the woman he had just declared his love too. Hank believed it would be a while before he ever saw her again...until he heard her voice.

"Janet?!" Hank whirled around to see Janet looking for him. He smiled and made his way over to her to give her a hug, lifting her off her feet and planting a kiss on her lips.

"You're here! I can't believe it!"

Janet hugged him back, returning the kiss and smiling from ear to ear. "It's good to see you Hank." She wiped away the tears from her eyes and touched foreheads together.

"You too Janet." Hank said softly as he hugged his girlfriend for a moment. "This means that you don't have to go back in, we get to be together. I never imagined it would be so soon after though."

Alanna was a bit more comfortable now that she had her armor, shield, and amulet back, although the absence of her weapons was frustrating. Still, she was in a mildly better mood now and anxious to find out more of what was going on here. Her curiosity was peaked as well. She would need to find a way back home, she didn't believe the nonsense of what she'd been told about her world being gone, but it wouldn't hurt for her to find out more about this place first.

She touched the ember stone around her neck for comfort, wishing that she had a better understanding of what had brought her here. It had to be magic of some sort, but what kind of magic could have grabbed her from her life without leaving her with some kind of memory?

Everything that Cedric had learned since reaching the deck clad in this...thing had brought more and more confusion. He'd crammed his wand up a sleeve, occasionally squeezing that wrist to assure himself that it was there. Whatever was going on, he had some abilities.

Still shaking his head and pacing in an effort to clear his mind, he found himself almost bumping into one of the other crew members. She was clad more heavily, in armor---where had she gotten that? Maybe she'd been here longer and would know more about this war.

"You've fought in this war already?" he asked.

Alanna was surprised by the sudden appearance of an unfamiliar boy, but she covered it quickly. She eyed him carefully, trying to decide if he was a friend or foe.

"I've fought in a war before, but not this one, my lord," she answered finally, deciding to use her best court manners. She wasn't the biggest fan of formality, but she'd grown up at court and her training had required her to learn proper court etiquette. This seemed the wrong time to risk offending anyone. "What about you, sir? May I ask what you know of this place? And how might I find my way back to Tortall?"

Alanna would quickly learn that Cedric was not the greatest source for information. He'd learned some, but he wasn't great.

"I'm no lord, not a sir either," Cedric waved his hand. "Just Cedric. But the little muggle devices have told us a little. We're living here during the war, it'll give us what we need, and...if Tortall's a place on your world, you can't go back to it. It's gone."

He bowed his head in apology.

Hawke was angry. He still wasn't even sure if he was alive or not, but the one thing he did know was that he wanted some answers. Head voices were not satisfactory and completely unacceptable, and to top it all off, his clothes were pulsating.

Maybe this was hell, after all.

He took to stalking the Observation Deck, trying his best to look intimidating despite his general discomfort, searching the crowd for anyone he might know--even if he was dead and they were...probably not. Who even knew anymore? Certainly not him.

The best thing to do, he decided, was to find someone with answers. "I need to speak with someone in charge."

So, you know, he could pinpoint their weaknesses and figure out the best way to depose them.

Sofia hadn't been to a poddrop yet, but after talking with Alena during the unexpected surprised, figured she might as well make it more of a normal visit and hope that one day some of her friends were going to be awoken.

This was not one of those days. Instead, she finds herself with a strange man demanding to speak with those in charge. If she crossed her eyes he could almost be Psaro.

"We have Councilmen who can answer any question you may need answered," she explained, standing close to him, her sword behind her back.

"Ah." He turned to find a young girl that he looked up and down before considering his answer. What an archaic weapon. Well, he supposed the afterlife didn't really segregate by when you died. There were all kinds of strange people and creatures in this uncomfortable, pulsating room.

"Names, please. Would you direct me to them?"

You were just jealous of her and the fact she actually had clothing on along with the suit. Even if it was pretty fancy. At least he was polite and not demanding that he be led everywhere. With a wave of her fingers, she pointed to the giant draconian.

"Kang is one of the Council Members. He helped me with questions when I was first appeared here as well. There is also captain of the ship, Leon." but there were too many people for her to point effectively at him. "...usually he will address the new arrivals, and will also answer questions."

DID YOU WANT MORE.
