Contact [Bendy timed to 3 or 4 days after Lirath]

In the aftermath of the battle at Lirath, Stacy had been severely damaged. Though she still eventually managed to build up enough power to resume course, she was obviously struggling, her pace far slower than normal. She could barely even manage to directly address those who needed to speak with her, instead allowing the more monotone voice of the ( Read more... )

There they were. The Daligig. Their saviors. And by the looks of it, a lot of the crew were not happy with their arrival. Who wouldn't be when things have gone to hell and back.

But, that wasn't why Sasami was here. Not by a long shot. She wanted answers of her own. She can "hear" Tsunami prodding her on, to approach one of them and find out what's going on.

Brave face, Sasami. They may not answer you if you seem scared. Sasami thought to herself as she attempted to steel herself and approach one of the Daligig.

"E-Excuse me. Can I ask a question?" she said, wishing she hadn't stammered.

Thankfully for Sasami, the Daligig she had chosen to approach was Archite Rekkti, who seemed to be more open than the others.

"Yes?" Rekkti replied. "How can I help you?"

That was a good thing. She wasn't sure if she could muster up the courage to talk to Yavek.

"Um... I don't know if you can answer this, but..." Sasami began before letting out a deep breath to calm herself. "...I just want to know why? I understand that we were chosen and all, but, if we were, then how come some of us were affected worse than others?"

She tried her best to look up at Rekkti as she continued. "There's a part of me that could have ended this war easily and yet, a lot of that is gone a-and I didn't even realize that until something here tried to kill me."

"If we're here to save everyone, why hold that back?"

Rekkti gave something of an apologetic smile as she answered.

"Look, I don't really know all the details," she said, "but there are a lot of people among the Daligig that...honestly, they don't really know if they can trust any of you. And all of you gathered here, with all that power...it's dangerous, according to them. Sure, you could wipe out the Ohm easily, but at the same time, how could anyone be sure that you all couldn't just turn around and start doing what the Ohm did?"

She sighs.

"Look, it's not a great explanation, but you have to understand, no one wants to take any chances with this. If it were up to me, I would have you all fighting at full force. But I can't, so all I can do is follow my orders as they are."

"Nice one?" she laughed. "Compared to Yavek, I suppose anyone qualifies, but yes, I'm Rekkti."

"...Ah." The smile left Rekkti's face at that.

"I'm...not privy to all the details. A lot of the Transmigration Project is highly classified. But from what I've been told, many of the Chosen attempted a mutiny. Most were sent back to the pods, but in the initial conflict, some of them were unfortunately killed."

Sherry watched the aliens with curiosity. Sure, now she'd seen all sorts of weird things (and monsters) but the Daligig sort of reminded Sherry of rubber-band aliens.

She hung slightly behind Leon, listening to the exchange as it got both interesting and annoying at the same time.

Allenby could see right away that someone would have to surgically remove the stick from Yavek's ass before she could talk to him. And while the lady seemed less hostile... she was still some kind of officer-command-type. Yeah, nicer, but at the end of the day, the crew would still be useful tools to her more than real people.

She wouldn't get answers from them. Hell, she might even land herself in the brig again, or worse. Instead, she headed towards the soldiers. How much they actually knew, Allenby didn't know, but she was going to try and get at least one question answered.

"Hey there."

"Glory and Honor, friend," the nearest Kessek soldier replied. "How may I be of assistance?"

"Uh, you too." Allenby shrugged. "It's the first time I've seen you guys that we're all supposedly workin' for. Figured I might as get to know you and some stuff directly, right?"

Yeah, no, she wasn't going to bother being sneaky. "So how long've you been a soldier for these Daligig guys?"

"Personally?" he asked. "I have served for nearly thirty five cycles, since reaching maturity, as all Kessek do. As a whole, the Kessek have served the Daligig for millenia, ever since they saved us from destroying ourselves."

Jaime waited around until the captain and the others had had their say. So now it was his turn. He turned the battered old omnitol over in his hands. The one that had been left for him by himself. He sighed, forced thoughts of other things out of his mind, and stepped up to the Dalgig.

"Excuse me, I have a few questions."

Yavek waved the boy off, motioning for Rekkti to deal with him.

"Yes?" she replied. "How can I help you?"

Jaime eyed the sourfaced Yavek for a moment, then nodded at Rekkti.

"Looks like the captain went over like a led balloon with your boss," he commented, a small smile tugging at his lips before he continued.

"It's mostly about the things we've found on the ship--that I've found. First. . .zombies. Multiple types that got free and ended up killing several thousand people from the pods. Second, we found these creatures called Reavers locked up below the city." He kept his gaze locked on his hers, voice firm, even a little grim.

"Those I know you'll explain as potential weapons against the Ohm. At least that's my hunch. I mean, after all, fight fire with fire, right?" His tone of voice indicated that he couldn't disagree more with that statement.

"But then there's the Yeerks. Who are anything but a good weapon. Who are a danger to themselves, to the people aboard the ship, to people off the ship. Why keep them around? A race known to hostile and expansive."

"Look," she replied, "I know we're probably going to get a lot of these questions, but the thing you need to understand is that the Daligig crews of the Transmigration project were completely autonomous. It was up to them to go out and retrieve anyone and anything they could from the worlds destroyed by the Ohm, particularly anyone that could possibly be useful in the war."

"But from what we've seen, these crews occasionally became...overzealous. They tried too much, stretched themselves too far, and picked up things they couldn't control. It is unfortunate, but these things can't be changed."
