Of malfunctioning portals, parks and dragons [Open]

Taking some time from other projects, Celena had once more brought down her Paired Gate device down to the park in an attempt to work on a number of issues of the operation of the device while in the Bleed. After all if a stable gate could be established, even for short periods of time, it could make for quick travel about the city and about the ( Read more... )

As Fletcher walked through the park on one of his rare days off from working in Hydroponics, he was surprised to see... a dragon, working on some strange device.

He approached slowly -- he knew dragons weren't necessarily bad people, but, well, they were still big and scary. "What's that...?" he asked.

Celena pondered over what looked to be a holographic display for a moment, tapping a few places on the display before Fletcher's voice managed to break her attention on the device. Swinging her head around to look to the young human with a smile.

"This? A Paired Gateway System, a means of rapid transport between two locations," She explained easily before gesturing to the device and the secondary portable section, "I've been looking into getting past the interference that all such methods of transit seem to experience while in the bleed,"

"Rapid transport? You mean faster than those tube things?" That would be amazing, now that Fletcher thought about it. He tilted his head. "How does it work, though? I mean, what does it do to transport people?"

"Indeed, as fast as stepping from one place and stepping out at another, something that would be especially useful where the transport tubes don't reach," Like the city around them for instance, lifting a paw and turning it palm up, she had two small illusions form, miniature versions of the respective parts of the design, "By utilizing linked gates, or portals if you would, which allow one to step through one portal and step out of the other respective portal," To demonstrate, she had the illusions of the gate system form their respective portals and had a generic little glowing person step through one and out the other.

"It has been proven to work already in real space, it is just a matter of whether it can be properly stabilized for use while in transit,"

Signum, on a walk partly for exercise and partly for rare relaxation, notices the draconic form flying around the park. She recognizes her general shape, though she can tell it's not Aibghalien because this dragon actually knows how to fly with wings. Deducing that the dragon is his comrade, then, Signum decides to be polite, stop, and wave hello to the flying figure.

It didn't take long for the usually quite observant dragon to spot the Signum on the ground. Oh she could fly alright, tilting on wingtip she brought her course around then down back toward the park down toward Signum. Landing nearby with a single smooth backwing before padding over toward her, "Hello there,"

Signum lets her eyes widen and eyebrows arch in a bit of admiration - as an aerial mage, she appreciates a natural flier.

"Hello to you as well," she says, bowing slightly in deference to the dragon. "Am I mistaken, or are you Miss Celena Vantari?"

Celena couldn't help but smile at that hint of admiration, she did pride herself greatly in her flight after all.

"I am the very same, would I be remiss in assuming that you know Aibghalien then?" She replied easily as she dipped her head to her in turn for the bow.

As Celena flew through the sky, another draconic figure joined her, matching altitude and speed perfectly. (Eat that, Signum.)

"Not having much luck, I take it?"

"Not much no, it's being rather stubborn thus far," She replied with a shake of her head before glancing across with a smile to her companion as he matched her altitude and speed. "If I can just find a way to stabilize the link properly though,"

"The very fabric of the Bleed seems to oppose any efforts to transit it spatially or temporally," he said. "The one time I came close, you'll recall, I stabilized reality so fundamentally it became absolutely still and shattered."

"It would certainly seem that way," She dipped her head at that, she recalled that particular attempt indeed, "Perhaps over stabilization isn't the solution, but perhaps a manner of stabilization while allowing the system the flexibility to sway and bend with the currents of the Bleed as it were while maintaining a connection, if only for a short time,"

"Hey, more dragons!" Jr. called as he stared up into the sky. This one looked different from that golden one he had met not too long ago in the river. He had seen where if flew up from, so while it was in the air, he wandered over to take a look at the gate device.

That call did not go unnoticed from the dragon in the air as she peered down toward its source with some amusement, wondering just which other dragons he had seen. Watching him from above for a moment she circled around and came into land not far from the gate device, "Greetings to you,"

"Hey there," Jr. snapped up a quick wave with a smile. "Looked like you were having a pretty good time up there."

He turned his head to the device. "Is this yours or something?"

"I always do enjoy a good flight," She replied with an easy smile before dipping her head at his question.

"It is indeed, the product of many months work, it is a paired Gateway device, a means of transportation if you would,"

Cassie was taking a walk through the park when she was suddenly covered on all sides by a dark shadow, which caused her to look up as she tried to discover the source of the strange change. And then she froze.

That looked like... But how?

As her shock began to pass, Cassie remembered that Marco and Ax had mentioned that there were dragons on the ship. Marco had apparently befriended one dragon, a female one named Celena, enough that she had allowed him to acquire her DNA. Other then that, she didn't know much of the dragons on the ship, but she hadn't heard that any of them were a threat.

Raising her hand, she called out to the dragon, hoping that the dragon could hear her even at this distance. "Hello!"

(OOC: If you'd rather not have them meet now then that's fine. Just let me know. Also, please let me know if I start doing poorly with my tags at any time. Thank you. :) )

As observant as the dragon in question was known to be, even while thinking she picked out the call of greetings from below. Tilting her flight so that she could swing her head around partially to spot the other on the ground with but a short moment of searching.

"Greetings!" She called down in return as she circled overhead once before dipping her flight to bring herself down with graceful ease nearby, landing with but a single backstroke of her large wings, folding them in against her side as she padded towards the one who had greeted her. One with whom she was unfamiliar, perhaps one who had only recently been release?

(OOC: I'm fine with them meeting now! Likewise do let me know if I do as well, and welcome :) )

Cassie took a step back as the dragon landed gracefully near her, nervousness and awe flooding through her. It wasn't as though she spoke with dragons on a regular basis and she wasn't sure how best to approach one. Still, the dragon's greeting had been friendly enough.

She walked over to meet the dragon and smiled. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Cassie."

Celena took in her reaction to her presence with interest, it was after all interesting to note the many various reactions she received from each new person she met. She smiled easily though as she padded over to her cheerfully enough.

"It's nice to meet you too, Cassie, I am Celena," She replied with the slightest dip of her head.
