Before Nanaki finally visited Hydroponics, he wanted to check out the rest of the ship - mainly to make sure if he could find any other places that sounded as nice. The city hadn't been too bad; if anything, the park was peaceful enough. But just as he expected, nothing came close to the earthy, planety feeling that he sensed immediately upon ( Read more... )

"My, what a big kitty." Midna, of course, was hovering well up out of reach, even as she watched Nanaki lie down. Sense of self-preservation and all.

"You must be one of the newcomers."

With a perk of his ears, one, amber eye glanced up when he heard the voice. He stared at her for a few moments, sizing her up - she was unlike anyone Nanaki'd ever met before, that was for sure.

"Hello," he responded, not moving or getting up quite yet. "You're right, I've only just woken up."

"And you're already going to sleep? How do you expect to win a war like that?"

How curious that he had only one eye. Maybe he lost the other one in a fight.

"There doesn't seem to be any fighting going on at the moment." He twisted his neck somewhat as he shook his head, the omnicomm fastened around it shaking as he did so. "From what it seems, those who use these devices, as well as this ship itself will inform us if something approaches that endangers us."

The Chancellor came through, having returned something he'd borrowed from hydroponics.

"Good afternoon," he says to the individual relaxing.

After the abundance of humans both in the chambers and on the Obs Deck, Nanaki was surprised to see so many others on the ship. He raised his head, tail flicking as he gave the Chancellor a small nod in return.

"Good afternoon. Have you been here long? I didn't see you with the others when I woke up."

"I was awakened on the last occasion, a few months ago."

"A few months?"

His head tilted a little, taking that in and thinking about it. While he didn't look outright angry at that, he definitely wasn't pleased. "Is that how often people get woken up?"

As Nanaki passed, Alastirra waved from where, as was her wont, she worked on her garden.

"Hello!" she called. "Come to enjoy Hydroponics?"

After their discussion it seemed a sensible question.

"Alastirra," Nanaki greeted her back with a small smile, turning to move toward her. "Yes. I've taken the time to explore other areas on board, too. But I think I like this area most of all."

"Considering how often I am here, I do too," she said with a chuckle. "Still, it is...I suppose, the most like home. At least before Azeroth was destroyed."

Or Draenor, or Argus.

"Are you settling in all right, then? I mean, I would hope so, but I know how much of a shock it is."

"It's been the only place so far that's actually felt like being on a planet. I like it."

He paused, wondering how to answer her question. He had stayed pretty calm after he moved to learn more about what was going on. He didn't like what he heard, but that there was hope to save his planet, he at least had something to focus on. "I'm doing fine, so far. I have not seen anybody that I know, but I wasn't expecting to, either."

Applejack took to this land immediately, just as if she was home on the farm again. That wasn't quite true, of course, but it sure was nice to see a tree again. An honest to goodness tree. Several of them, even! The air didn't feel quite like Equestria, but it was sure as hay better than the stuffy old ship's other parts.

"This here's one fine tree you've got," Applejack admired when she found the crew member enjoying himself, sorely tempted to tap the trunk with a hoof. Maybe this one would even bear fruit someday.

Nanaki looked up to Applejack, and then further up to the tree he was resting under. "I like this entire area of the ship the most, so far. It's peaceful. ... and feels a lot more natural than the rest of the ship."

"It's still not quite right, but it'll do," Applejack cheered, tucking her legs under her a short distance away. "Real dirt under my hooves, real trees. I could get used to this."

She jerked her head to the side to swing her mane over the other shoulder. "Only thing it needs is a night sky and some stars."

He nodded when she said that. "It would be nice. Even though I like this place, it's still strange to look up and see a ceiling instead of the sky. But, at the moment we seem to be traveling through space - there are places to see the stars."

Kali flopped the grass, wings relaxing to either side of her. This felt even less like a ship, finding herself safe for a moment in the sunlight and she couldn't help a low thrum of pleasure as she settled into the grass not far away from Nanaki ( ... )

Nanaki moved over toward her, glad that she had decided to show up. Equally glad he was that she seemed to be enjoying Hydroponics as much as he was. He did silently wonder for a few minutes how her time on the ship so far had been. But when she uttered those words, he frowned slightly, his tail swishing with a concerned curiosity. "I find that to be true a lot, too. Did something happen?"

"My uncle is on the ship. He is a leader here, I have met some of his friends." She kept her face buried in the grass, breathing deeply of the warm smell of life and living, growing things. "I have also met some of his enemies, or at least, I do not think all are happy with him here."

Marco's hostility had disturbed her on a deep level, frightening her into fleeing. "There are places on this ship where Stacy cannot see, I inadvertently found myself in one."

She kept her eyes closed, claws flexing against the earth.

"Where she cannot see..." he repeated, shifting to sit down next to her. "Where can't she see?"

That sounded rather dangerous. Nanaki heard about the way the ship could protect people, and in the same vein, stop people from doing harm. To be able to be somewhere where even the ship itself couldn't see...

"I'm glad you've found somebody here, though. It's better to have family and friends around, I think. Have you gotten a chance to ask him why there are those who don't like him?"
