Insert Rarity's Dress Making Song (Open)

It had been a long time since the last pod pop but fortunately for Rein, her entire stock had been doubled since the last time they had made landfall. Armed with new fabrics both familiar and alien, and her legion of sewing machines, dress dummies and such, and her new tenant to boot, Rein was able to take on the world ( Read more... )

Rarity was looking at the fabrics in awe and fascination, picking them up and feeling the material. "This is amazing. I've never seen some of these before!"

"They're a mix of various colors and fabrics from a merchant planet we visited for shore leave," explained Rein, moving things around so that Rarity could have her own workplace. "I got double the amount so there's a ton of material."

She levitated the fabric around, ideas already bursting in her head. "I can change the colours of the fabric. Do you mind that?"

Rarity eyed the human dummies and furrowed her brows in thought. "Are there any books on human anatomy and fashion? I think I need to get myself used to that."

It's the perfect color and so hit pocketloli July 5 2011, 15:42:31 UTC
"I would love it if you did," said Rein, grinning. "I always have to dye the color if I don't have enough of one so it would be great."

She nodded as several screens appeared, and she lowered one of the floating screens to Rarity's eye level as it showed a nice 3D diagram of human proportions and how to sew for them. "You can use me as a model too, since I'm always around." she added.

Having had quite the hectic time in the last few months, Eva hasn't quite gotten around to following Doctor Samson's therapeutic prescription. She's decided to finally get around to that.

She knocks on the door of the Clothiers as she enters. "Hello?"

"Hello!" chirped Rein from behind the counter. She was working on some needlework in her spare time and she waved. "Welcome to the clothiers!"

She enters, looking a little lost. Sewing has never been a strong suit of hers. "Dr. Samson sent me. Apparently the secret to a fulfilling life and a well mind is designing outfits."

Although maybe it is. Rein seems chipper enough.

"Well you've come to the right place," said Rein with a flourish. "I've got anything you'd possibly need to make what you so desire. Anything you want to make or are you getting an idea for it first?"

"Uh, hi? Anyone here?" "Pikachu?" were the simultaneous questions from Ash and Pikachu as they entered.

"I'm over here," replied Rein, walking out with an armload of cloth. "Come to get something made?"

"Yeah, but I'm not sure how I'm gonna be able to pay for it." he said, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

"That's what everyone says, and then I just tell them 'do my heavy lifting for a day and we'll call it even'." replied Rein, smirking. "Still, it's a fair trade off. I usually make one outfit per person to start with."

"Well is this the right place to get some real clothes around here, or am I going to have to keep putting up with everyone singing the Bridal Chorus at me wherever I go?" Donna said as she walked into Stormwind Clothiers, still dressed in in the only item of clothing she'd found with her possessions - her old wedding dress. She might be new to this ship, but if she was good with anything she it was picking up new systems and she'd gotten the hang of that omnicomm quick as anything. The moment she saw that there was a clothing store on board, she'd headed out to find it straight away. She didn't want to have to only this dress and that awful suit as the only things to wear a minute longer than she needed to.

"Yep this is the right place," replied Rein, looking up at Donna with a smile. "Oh that's a pretty dress..."

Shaking herself, she grinned. "I'm Rein, and this is my store."

"Pretty dress, but not really that that I want to be wearing every day," Donna said. "Plus the wedding didn't really pan out. My fiance sort of...disappeared." Donna didn't seem to upset about it though. It was strange - she didn't even understand why she still wasn't upset about it herself. He basically left her at the alter, and yet she couldn't help but have the feeling that somehow, she was better off without him.

"Donna, Donna Noble," she said. "So, how much of my soul do I need to give you to get some decent clothes?"

"Eternally," deadpanned Rein in a deep voice before giggling. "Naw, just lift something for me and we'll call it even. And wear what I make, that's a perk too."

"I can make quite a lot. Anything in particular you're looking for?"

There's a large bundle of fabric moving down the street towards Stormwind Clothiers. A towering pile of cream ruffles, silver trim, white satin, and ivory-embroidered velvet, trailing ribbons and streamers behind it. Not to mention a noticeable amount of silver and gold glitter, shedding from every pleat and pocket.

(It would have been easier to wear the dress, but Anwei refused to even consider doing that.)

So she was lugging the dress along over her shoulders, along with the matching bustle, bodice, panniers and underrobes. The hat was hanging under one of her arms by its streamers, long feathers nearly trailing on the City street.

She turned, sidestepped, and actually managed to get in the door without dropping anything.

"Hello?" she called. "I have a donation, please."

"Hiiii!" exclaimed Rein, waving at her. "Wow that's a pretty dress. Is it yours?"

"Hello," she sighed, letting the weight of the dress drape over a nearby counter. "Yes, I got it as part of a mission, and I really can't imagine wearing it again." With all its furbelows and pads and lace, it made her look like a short furry sphere. The penalty of cutting down a dress meant for someone seven feet tall to fit on someone five-foot-six or so.

She unslung the undergear that went with it. "And I can't imagine that anyone else would want to, either, unless they know how to walk with full panniers. But there's all the trim you could imagine, boning, wiring, padding, and plenty of extra fabric along the bottom hem, so if you want to recycle it into something more useful, or several things more useful, be my guest."

She pulled the hat loose and held it at arms'-length, staring at it. Its great crest of mirrors and plumes nodded as she turned it back and forth. "But I should probably warn you about the hat."

"Yeah it's a little overdone," admitted Rein. "But it's beautiful all the same. Are you sure you want to cut it up? I can make some short skirts and other stuff with it."
