::insert Jingle-Muzak version of Carmina Burana::: (open, but targetting individuals, esp. Karen)

The Chancellor met with his milk-preservation associate, his equipment supplier, his strawberry supplier, and, finally, the girl who'd been promised the 'first' -- not counting the cut he'd given his associates, including the entire quart certain milk preservation associates may or may not have eaten in one sitting -- serving of ice cream.

Guess who's back for seconds! One overdose of ice cream is hardly enough to stop a blooming binge problem and paranoia about food scarcity. He's reasonably comfortable with the Chancellor at this point, mostly after the pasteurizing, though he still finds the Chancellor's apparent glee at brutally murdering the creatures that oppressed him a little deserving of caution.

"You know, you really need to get a truck with a little bell and radio. I bet all the kids will come running."

Some people juggle geese. The Chancellor savors the thought of a particular Saernai dying and lives in terror of facing him alive. Just one of those things, he figures.

"The reference escapes me, but I am hoping to get a great deal of it to the children, yes."

"You didn't have horse-drawn ice cream trucks back in your time?" Howard starts poking at the ice cream quarts without asking permission, but he doesn't take anything. "How old's your cutoff for children?"

"Ice cream was a rare foreign delicacy to the humans. Once we had the technology to make it more available, it was usually done at home. I am willing to be flexible on the subject of children."

When the Chancellor came to see her, Karen was quite surprised. She hadn't actually expected him to have his promised ice cream ready so soon.

"Ah, hi!" she said when he came to call.

A moderately fangy smile as he crouches. "Hello, Karen."

She doesn't even flinch. Much. (Well, okay, a little.) "What're you doing here? It's nice to see you, I mean, but."

"Well, as we had previously discussed the prospect of Strawberry Ice Cream, I wanted you to have one of the first quarts." He hands her one. "I hope you have a spoon."

Does his nose deceive him? Not often. Ok, so its not a true treasure, like, say, a Burger King opening, but that smells like real food, or something like it.

"That what I think it is?"

"Ice cream. Both plain and strawberry variants." The Chancellor smiles. "So most likely."

"Been a while. You find a limited supply of that back planetside, or figured out how to make it here?"

"Making it here. My girls and I used to, on Camelot, and I found several people able to assist with the process and supplies. The milk is has been put through all the appropriate safety procedures."
