Kang had been meaning to check on Eva that day, and of course, that meant that Karen had to go with him. He knew she'd probably like being around another human, especially one that was a mother herself, and that Eva would like to see the girl as well. He thought he remembered seeing a VCR and a few Disney movies in the living room, too, so that'd keep her occupied for a bit. There really wasn't much for a child to do on the ship beyond going to one of the parks in the City or the Sensoriums, and he'd done both already. Yesterday, she'd wanted to go to the circus, so he'd obliged and imagined it up for her.

He walked beside Karen, keeping a little bit of distance since she still hadn't quite stopped being nervous around him, and smiled when he saw Eva in her garden. "There she is, Karen."

"Okay! But isn't Hercules that one TV show?" she asked, a little confused. It wasn't one she was familiar with, but she knew her mother watched it sometimes. "Why'd they let Disney make a movie of it?"

"Why not? More Hercules is never a bad thing." She finishes messing with the VCR and the familiar Disney logo shows up on the television. She takes a seat on the couch near the wall, close enough that she and Kang can converse while Karen watches.

"It's different from the TV show," Kang said with a shrug, only half paying attention to the movie. He didn't really like Bambi all that much. Lowering his voice, he asked Eva, "Have you been getting updates on Marco?"

"Oh," she said simply. Well, maybe it would be less dull, then.

She took a seat on the couch as Eva set up the tape, and grinned when the video started playing. Whatever conversation Eva and Kang were about to have, she wasn't listening at all.

Once Karen seems sufficiently absorbed in the movie, Eva turns to Kang. "So what's it been that's got you all tense?"

"...you noticed?" Kang's wings rustled a bit.

"I'm not blind, you know." Besides, her observational skills were almost all she had during her captivity. She learned to tell a lot from a little.

Kang sighed and crossed his arms over his chest, "There's a bronze dragon on the ship. From Krynn."

Eva bites her lip and twists a lock of hair, clearly unsettled by this news. "Does he know you're here?"

"He knows. Lord Bight does, too, and knows this dragon personally."

"How long have you known?" It couldn't have been long. He hadn't mentioned it at the tavern. "Were you connected to this dragon back home?"

She offers a hand in case he wants contact, but doesn't impose.

Kang snorted, "Only a few days. I heard from Aibghalien and Rhiow; apparently, he's been swimming about in the river. Crucible helps Lord Bight defend Sanction, and I thought that with their connection, that Lord Bight had known all along and not told me. He only found out recently himself."

He quirked an eyebrow ridge at Eva. "You don't have to dance around it. I don't know if I'm one of his or not, and I don't want to know."

"So how long did he know before he told you? Or, let me rephrase, he didn't lie to you about him?" She sighs and picks at her lip, ripping off some skin. "Are you going to operate under the assumption that you aren't?"

"He didn't specify, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it was only a few days for him as well. Lord Bight told me that he would help make sure Crucible didn't cause me any trouble." Kang sighed. "What I'm going to do is avoid him at all costs. It doesn't matter if I am one of his or not, he's a bronze, and a metallic dragon, and I don't want anything to do with him."

He had to work hard to quash the low growl that wanted to start in his chest. He didn't want to scare Karen.

Eva shoots Kang a look, one of unwavering friendship and sympathy, then glances at the kitchen door in a silent question if he wants to move to the other room. "And you shouldn't. Do you think he'll go looking to make trouble for you?"
