Cyclone Effect

Phillip pulled the HardBoiler to a halt, putting the kickstand in place as he stepped out into the quieter districts of the trade planet. Quiet meaning that it wasn't full of people selling at maximum volume, but a more respectful level since the roads were cluttered by an impenetrable wall of people selling what appeared to be holy knicknacks ( Read more... )

"What was odd?" Andy said, having come over here as he had been directed over here for some reason that he couldn't fathom, but hey, exploring the planet was what they were pretty much here to do. It wasn't like he was going to get lost or anything.

Andy shrugged. "That is a bit weird, but maybe she was out of whatever she was selling."

It was difficult to navigate the city without a band of friends. There had been times when Yuna had lost credits she probably shouldn't have, but politeness managed to carry her all the way out here.

She found herself in what appeared to be the settlement of a holy order, instinctively going on guard. Would they kill her? It took a moment of observation, but she reminded herself that this was not a Yevon settlement. They would not execute her for being a heathen---they didn't even know who she was. That was a relief.

Even better, she saw Phillip accepting a holy gift. Was he blessed or cursed? Given what she knew about religion, she wasn't so sure anymore.

"Where did she go?" Yuna asked, hurrying from nowhere to help him look. That might have been a fleeting blessing or a bad sign.

Yuna looked over the trinket with him, admiring it. "Then I hope it brings you good fortune," she bowed, praying that it was true. They didn't need any more bad luck as a crew.

She turned back to him, carefully smoothing over a sleeve. The outfit she'd managed to purchase was somewhat closer to her original style. Nothing could fully replace that, but she was happy.

"I've been shopping. It's harder when you don't know the merchants and understand everything, but I've managed to get most of what I wanted. I'm almost out of money, though, and I still need to return."

That was fine. It would just be another long walk.
