It had not taken long for Reinforce to realize Hayate had been taken. The interference in their connection was subtle - Hayate was still near and healthy - but she was sensitive to such things, and it had not taken much time to confirm that she could not physically locate her ( Read more... )

Ronnae was walking through that area of the ship. She'd been around before, to visit a few people, but she had never really taken the time to explore it. She looked around taking everything in when she noticed Rein. She studied her from afar and decided she'd say hi, she seemed thoughtful.

"Heya" She waved timidly as she approached.

The reverie was not proving particularly helpful - it had always been a tendency of hers to easily fall into thinking in circles - so she did not mind the interruption when it came.

"Hello." Rein greeted back. Not the world's most enthusiastic, but she managed not to stare too hard. That was something. She really didn't talk to the rest of the crew nearly enough. A bit of an irony considering her role in communications... and a definite flaw. To be corrected. One could not help a people whose problems they never bothered to learn.

"Are you looking for someone in the Temple?" She stood, ready to guide or give directions.

Ronnae smiled shyly and shook her head. "Was jus' explorin' really. I tend to wander around when I have nothing to do." She got closer and bowed. "Name's Ronnae, Ronnae 'Mash Belore Ryllos. Are you well? You seemed a bit off is all so I wanted to know if there was anything you might need help with." The teen offered a friendly smile.

Truth be told, Rein would probably have struck a great many people as 'a bit off' even in the best of times... but in this case the concern was well-founded ( ... )

Signum, on the other hand, was not quite so sensitive. She lacked the unique connection to her Master a Unison Device had...or perhaps Reinforce was just that one degree closer to Hayate, having been directly connected to her from such a young age.

Either way, though, Signum is close enough to Reinforce to sense her disquiet, and it only takes a short investigation to figure out the reason. Signum is less interested in rumination, though, and more in expressing her irritation.

"Didn't we just get Zwei back?" she observes to her administrator-from-an-another-reality.

Signum always had been more open to speaking her mind... and that was why she was leader, even more than her skill at arms. Not that it is strictly necessary; Rein is aware of her feelings, too, and can sense that irritation.

...is that what she feels? She can almost feel Signum's as though it was her own, and it isn't quite the same. But then, even if Signum was once a part of her - or another Signum, at least, but she tries not to dwell too much on that - they are not the same person.

"Yes." She knew the question was rhetorical, and the answer was an agreement with the sentiment as much as anything. And Vita had gone back to that long sleep...

"Even though I know she'll come back, it's... hard." She said, almost to herself.

"I'm beginning to wonder about this ship's administration programs..." Signum admits, slipping back into terms she and Reinforce are familiar with. "I can understand the government not knowing what it's doing, but things like this are just inefficient."

And saddening and annoying, of course, but Signum's personal feelings aren't relevant right now.

"Things were even more chaotic before." Rein notes. "But you are right, they still do not support us well for depending on us as agents so often."

But... right now she is less concerned with broader issues than the very specific fact of Hayate's absence.

"...I swore to myself after she named me that I would never again stand by or despair of action. That even if all seemed hopeless I would move, and if I must fail, fail. But here I am. It seems obvious that I should wait... but I wonder if I'm only being weak again?"

Aqua was passing through when she saw Reinforce at the temple. She hadn't realized there were two versions of her, so she immediately mistook this one for the Rein who ran Stormwind Clothiers.

"Rein?" she asked. "Are you okay?"

Rein looked up, puzzled, when the unfamiliar voice called her name. "...Hello? Have we spoken before?"

She sounded concerned; it would have been embarrassing enough for a human, but for an archival interface it was unthinkable that she would forget a face so easily. Or rather, it could be believed, but only as evidence of some corruption or damage.

...but for Aqua meeting her eyes would probably explain the reaction; they were a deep red that starkly contrasted the blue of her sister's.

Aqua realized her mistake quickly when she saw the unfamiliar eyes.

"I'm sorry," she apologized. "You look like someone I've met before--Rein from Stormwind Clothiers?"

"Oh." Well that explained it... Zwei must have been going in her full-sized form more often lately. "You need not apologize. She is my sister. Are you a friend of hers?"

And while they shared some similarities in appearance they were clearly nothing alike in personality, as Ein's somber tones made plain.
