I'm Burning Low, So Revive Me

Jan 30, 2011 00:23

Namira had sequestered herself off in a sensorium for this exercise. With her magic acting up at best, and being entirely unreliable at worst, she had decided to handle it the best way she could. Unfortunately, she didn't see how destroying a section of the city in a huge column of flame would help anyone with anything, and people would be terribly ( Read more... )

Sensing magic, the elven mage drifted in -- literally, since he routinely flew instead of walked, even if it was only a few feet above the ground. Already the manifestation had taken on a form he was nor familiar with, which intrigued him greatly. It certainly, in his mind, justified his blatant intrusion.

...unfortunately, the elf had done this enough times in the past to believe that he ought not to interfere. So he watched as those minor evils came closer with something of a frown -- having no real idea what she was going to do to deal with them.

One part of her mind was concentrating on the spell, the other part was cursing Andraste's pink knickers that her usually impressive command had whittled down so much. So, she did what any good mage would: Namira let the first spell off towards the Alpha and the pursuing Hakkar, then pointed at the nearest genlock. An icy wave of magic froze one, slowed the other two in frost as she took off across the field.

Mages were many things, but hardy was not one of them.

The watching wizard made a pleased noise as he saw that effect. "That's actually quite obvious," he said, out loud but to himself. "Binding a freezing effect into an ice spell, thus allowing for a period of retreat? I ought to try that."

Hakkar had, by now, jumped upon the alpha who'd been knocked over by the effect of the stonefist, and was tearing into him gleefully. Namira hesitated as she tried to catch her breath. One of the genlocks she could probably knock down, but...

Think, think, think, Namira, she cajoled herself. How long did it take to cast fireball again? Five seconds? Six? How long would it take her now? Ten? Twelve? She lifted her hands and started stirring the magical current around her, chanting the spell over and over under her breath as it grew. The first of the genlocks' slowed movement was beginning to wear off as the spell started to glow above her hands, a ridiculously small spark she then threw into the threesome of genlocks.

It exploded, and Namira, a little too close to her own spell, felt herself lifted and thrown by the blast. She landed a short bit from Aibghalien. "Good afternoon," Namira panted. "Enjoying the demonstration?"

It was time for a break. That was the rule he always followed: when he started talking to his tank of slugs in a high-pitched voice, it was time to go find something else to do.

So that's why Luis was headed to the sensoriums, hoping to do the same thing he would have done back in Madrid-- retire to the nearby cafe for an extra large, extra black espresso and a crossword puzzle until he was ready to behave like a sane human being again.

That plan didn't work so well when he stepped into the sensorium, found it accidentally occupied, and found a couple of monsters rushing headlong towards Namira... and him, as a result.

Namira may have been interrupted by the sudden barrage of Spanish swear words that poured from Luis' throat.

"Blast, I lost the spell!" Namira cried as Luis broke her concentration. Hakkar ran and tackled the hurlock alpha, tearing into the darkspawn with vigor, instead of his regularly lazy attitude.

She turned and grabbed Luis's hand, and shot across the field. Clearly, she was used to running far from the battle as she could. "Come along, Luis! They're very nasty little things!"

"Dios mio, what in the hell are you doing?" he shouted, though he was able to keep up with her admirably. One thing about Luis: he was an excellent runner, despite his nerdy lifestyle.

"Practice," she replied as the three genlocks tore after them on stubby legs. Namira looked behind her to make sure the Alpha hadn't hurt her poor, pookie of a puppy and stopped briefly to start casting again. The words overlapped one another, creating a mantra for the spell to weave into, a shot of green hit one of the genlocks and behind it, she put down Winter's Grasp. It only slowed them, but it would be enough for the moment.

"Just watch!" And please, Andraste, let this spell work, she half-prayed. She could feel the ebb of the spell ticking down, and then, just like that, one of them exploded, taking the one of the genlocks with it. As for the other one, Hakkar came barrelling across the field at them and closed his powerful jaws around the genlocks head with a sickeningly audible crunch.

Ronnae had just finished placing her armor on and was well on her way to go train. She was in a good mood, having had success at Engineering as well as spending some fun times with friends. She had decided she would train today with her mother's twin blades, instead of the bulky Shadowmourne, she was not in the mood to listen to it's requests ( ... )

At first, Namira's entire body classified Ronnae as Darkspawn, before her senses recognized she did not have the Taint that ran wild through them.

Which, when one thought about it, made it less like a taint and more like a suffusion, but there they were. Namira aimed bolts of pure mana at the genlocks as they scurried around Ronnae in an attempt to flank her so their sharp little daggers could get in under her armor.

Ronnae's death dance was still in full swing. Spinning, dodging, flipping, hacking and slashing at the creatures, there was not a moment where she was stationary. The blades glinting in the light created in the sensorium and sounds being emitted as her twin blades tore into the creatures or their own glancing against her heavy plate, made an amazing display even within the current situation.

The genlocks made an awful noise as they died. Not as bad a Shriek, of course. Nothing compared to their deathnoises. Still, with the genlocks being taken care of, it let Namira heal her poor mabari and set fire to the Alpha.

Oh, did she ever wish she'd taken the time to learn Chain Lightning.

Curious as ever, the sounds of combat and sense of magic drew the dragon in as she was passing by. The dragoness quickly taking in the scene as she swept her gaze about, her gaze quickly picking out the source of the magic as well as the supposed threats closed in on the mage.

She was stuck for a moment as to whether to just stand by and watch to see if the mage had something to deal with the approaching adversaries or to intervene in the others simulation to tackle the three closing opponents. Noting that the mage seemed quite intent on her spell though she decided to intervene this time.

Stepping forward Namira might note a red glow coming from a dragon a few meters behind her before and invisible force impacted the three Genlock's, hurling them away from the caster. Waiting for the other to finish her spell, before she would speak up, "My apologies for interrupting,"

Namira's stonefist sailed through the air to impact the Alpha, but didn't knock him over as she hoped. He skidded back a bit and knocked Hakkar to the side. The mabari yelped, but he landed on his feet after a short tumble and tenaciously returned to take down the hurlock.

"Much appreciated!" she said conjuring up another spell, "Hakkar! To me!" For a moment, the mabari hesitated, not wanting to leave his prey, but he quickly backed off as Namira's spell impacted the hurloc's armor. Followed by a bolt from her staff for good measure.

Ugh, all this magic, all at once was making her feel dizzy. She turned and--

Oh. Maker's balls.

Celena watched on with quite the interest as she kept the Genlocks pinned with her telekinesis as the mage took on the larger adversary.

"Most welcome," she replied easily in turn as she watched spell after spell impact the larger creature. The mage had some power behind her spells, though a somewhat different manner of casting, it had Celena curious none the less.

When she turned around though she knew that expression near immediately, well she certainly seemed to get reactions out of people, this one she'd guess had experience with dragon's before but perhaps not good experience, nevertheless she dipped her head toward the other in greetings, "An interesting scenario you've brought up, creatures from your homeworld I'd gather?"

"Darkspawn," Namira replied carefully. "How did you fit in the door?" Her head still felt like it was swimming in Alistair's soup, truth be told, but she rallied as best as she could.

Alistair she wasn't, but Yve was still trained as a warrior. She'd avoided the weird magic memory chambers mostly because she'd had enough of her mind being messed with in the Circle Tower. However, when she heard the familiar sounds of darkspawn coming from one room as she passed by, she and Boulder responded.

She noticed Namira was the occupant of the room, and she noticed she was in a bit of a pinch, so without even asking for an invitation she moved quickly inside, reaching to the swords sheathed on her back as she hurried past the mage.

"Need a hand?" she questioned, a wicked grin on her face as she spun both swords expertly before engaging two of the genlocks, Boulder moving to intercept the third.

"If you'd be so kind!" Namira replied as the stonefist shot through the air and hit the Alpha squarely in the chest, knocking him down in a crunch me metal and bone, with Hakkar following behind to tear at the creature's flesh for as long as he could.

Yve's presence was quite helpful; it gave Namira a moment to tap into the Creation-school powers that hadn't really been put to work lately. A green spell wisp went up, her Rock Armor went down, and she started the incantation to regenerate Yve's body as it was injured. Still, it felt like she was burning through her body's mana at a prodigious rate, which was unnatural.

Yve winced as she took a hit from one of the genlocks, and retaliated by whirling her blades above her head, before spinning in a circle and sweeping them down again on the creature, slicing it's little squashed head off. She felt the familiar tingle of healing magic as she bounced a few steps back from the other genlock, though it felt different from usual. She'd been banged up enough in a fight that she was very familiar with Wynne's spells, and she doubted that Namira's could be that different, so after darting back in to take care of the second genlock she glanced over at the mage.

"Something the matter?"

"I'm not sure," Namira replied. She looked even paler than usual, a feat in and of itself considering her regular complexion looked something more like milk.

There was a yelp as the hurlock threw Hakkar off of him and the dog rolled in the dirt. The hardy mabari stood up and shook himself off before going back to finish off the creature. "I'm having trouble drawing on the Fade, it seems."
