The Outsiders: Meeting 3

Jan 27, 2011 15:36

So the word had gotten around again, and she knew that if the place was going to be anywhere near its usual glory, they'd have to work on it immediately. Katara decided, just to not add the extra work to leave the hotel lobby in Water tribe regalia. She could always get rid of that stuff later, and she'd likely relocate it wherever she was staying ( Read more... )

Cleaning up before the meeting kaya_waterwave January 27 2011, 20:46:11 UTC
Katara was still working on the front lawn, not even believing there could be so much debris. She had to also deal with the fact that only half an hour ago she had to get herself down from a tree completely out of the way from the headquarters. She had NO idea what was causing this, so she figured she would have to go to medical or something tomorrow.

Unfortunately, she had lost time cleaning, so she was definitely going to need the help.

"Need help, pretty lady?" Nura stood at the entrance, with buckets of rags and water and some cleaning solution she'd gotten from the Calnus. "A little comm told me that someone is going to be throwing a big meeting..."

"Oh, Nura, hey!" Katara greeted, giving the older woman a hug. "Like you wouldn't believe. I am having the freakiest things happen to me today. I think I'll have to go to the Magical Department or something, I'm teleporting all over the place!"

She smiled when she saw the cleaning supplies. "Thanks so much! I might actually be able to get this done on time now!"

Nura cocked her head to the side and arched a brow quizzically. "Teleporting?" That was odd. Katara was a waterbender, wasn't she? And she didn't seem to be calm enough with teleportation for it to be an additional power...

She shook her head, her hair in a make-shift bandanna she'd made out that useless dress in her closet that really hadn't seen use in a year, and was already being used for making rags. "That's odd. But then, on Stacy, it's hard to say that, since it's...well, it's Stacy."

Nura hefted the buckets up with a smile. "And I'll pitch in, too! Querl is busy being a grindwump somewhere involving science, and I don't think I'll have to bail his green butt out until dinner time."

Meet up kaya_waterwave January 27 2011, 20:58:32 UTC
Well, at least they had finally gotten the place cleaned up, and now it was presentable. Now they everything was settled, people could start coming in and talk it up with each other. She was still writing up what she would say: talking with Rock, Static and Kon had really opened her eyes to what she wanted to make clear with the members and the new ones.

"Welcome to the Outsiders!" She greeted each person. "Please, make yourselves comfortable!"

She'd usually have snacks, but they were out at this point.

"Hello." Sho says as he enters the room. He takes a quick looks around before taking a seat. Sho hadn't seen a place like this before.

"Hi!" Katara said, pausing to wipe a smudge off her face. So much for finishing early.

He was a new face to her: at least, she was sure she hadn't seen him before in the hotel. "I'm Katara, one of the co-leader of the Outsiders. Thanks for coming! Who are you?"

Well now was the time to get up and start talking. There was definitely a level of nervousness for Katara, at least as far as being around all of these new people and what their impressions of her might be. Nevertheless, it wasn't as if this was the first time getting up and speaking to new people: she'd done that during the time she was imprisoned on that Fire Nation ship ( ... )

"And then comes the other part of being on a team: trusting and caring about each other. I know it sounds kind of hokey at first, but being on a team, caring about what happens to the rest of them strengthens your resolve, makes you remember what you're fighting for. Our worlds are destroyed, but we were the ones chosen to fight back, make sure we never let it happen again. And I hope to fight alongside each and every one of you. I'll talk to the higher ups about actual missions we can carry out too: those times we know enough about each other that we work in conjunction, make the best use of our skills. We won't always be together: at any given situation, the Ohm will come or something on the ship will attack us, and we may have to make do with what we have. But by then, we'll make sure you're ready, that you're able to aid any team you're with and defend the people here if they're in trouble. That, to me, is what the Outsiders have and always been about. Thank you for listening ( ... )

Beastboy had been smiling warmly throughout the entire speech and looked confused and startled when she passed him the mic. Even if she had asked him before to say a few words he had apparently totally forgotten. So after a few comical gestures of What? Me? Speak? He turned to face the audience again with an even bigger and now embarrassed grin.

He opened with "Uh...what she said!"

Hopefully that got a couple of laughs.

"So um...anyone got any questions? Katara covered alot about what we are and do and stuff but like...well I'm not very good at math but I'll answer any other questions you guys have. If not...well pool party actually sounded kinda fun, and we've got a film projector and like...more rooms then we know what to do with so we could have a movie party too."

Ronnae smiled through the speech, she had to admit, the girl had spirit. And it was no easy task to stand up in front of a crowd in the situation they were in and talk about unity and working as a team. She was also glad there was at least a familiar face in Beastboy ( ... )

"Ok guys," Katara said. "Since I'm really horrible at working a projector or even being able to take care of small technological tasks, I'll leave that part up to Beastboy. We can totally watch a movie together as a group, we can hang out at the pool OR we can totally start on some training. It's up to you!"

The former was totally out of her realm, the latter not so much.

Ronnae stuck to the back, waiting to see what people where gonna do. Crowds weren't really her thing, even if she was used to heavy battlefields. It wasn't the same! She had already raised her hood back up, letting only her long twin ponytails drape over her front as she examined the group from a distance.

Katara walked over to Beastboy and nudged him, talking quietly into his ear.

"Beastboy, Ronnae is sort of by herself. You should totally go talk to her and make her feel included. Just a thought."

Say Ronnae, haaave you met Beastboy?

Ronnae had met Beastboy, and had a fun time exploring and learning about the Outsiders. Although today she had kept to herself, trying not to be a bother and trying her best to be as invisible as she could be to not attract attention. Obviously no one had told her that being away from the crowd was the easiest way to attract attention.
