Jaime had had a lot to think about lately. Biggest among them was this ship and the people on it. Who could he trust? His other self had made it pretty clear that there were very few people that he could deal with without worry, and only a few of them, like Paco, were people he actually knew. As it was, he had taken to wandering the city, trying to ( Read more... )

"I'm pretty sure every superhero asks that at some point." said an ethereal teen in a haz-mat suit.

"Soo. Alternate universe Jaime, right?"

Jaime glanced up at Danny with a quizzical look. Judging from looks, another super-type.

"I guess that's the best way of putting it. Jaime Reyes, but you probably knew that." A wry grin broke out on his face for a moment.

"Danny Fenton or Danny Phantom. And yes, I'm aware using my real name in my superhero name was an idiotic move, but to be fair I had to come up with something quick so people would stop calling me Inviso-Bill."

"Nice to meet you Danny. And not everyone has the advantage of having two other guys coming before you with a name ready to go."

Jaime hesitated a moment nad reached out to shake the weedy young fellow's hand, giving it a shake.

"If I had known we had a club, I would have sent in my box tops for a membership and decoder ring ages ago." Ah ha ha. Jaime looked the guy up and down. Strangely dressed, but that kind of described everybody.

"What's your name?"

"It was related to clubs and that kind of thing. So I'll do that," Jaime replied. Huh. For such a little guy, he had a firm grip, and seemed confident enough in himself.

"Hiccup. I see. Well, have you ever seen any gnomes or trolls? It must be working." Jaime laughed.

"I'm Jaime Reyes, by the way."

"Hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure it's because you're awesome."

Paco walked up behind Jaime and slung an arm over his shoulders -- his left arm, because he didn't want to start his best friend on a guilt-spiral over the cyborg arm. "Need someone to vent to, bro?"

For all his breezy talk, he was actually worried about his friend. The first Jaime on board had...well, pretty much zombified himself with responsibility and guilt; Paco wasn't going to let that happen again.

Jaime grinned at Paco, giving his friend a pat on the back.

"I. . .guess so? I mean, I should be used to this sort of thing by now but it's whole orders of magnitude bigger than what I'm used to. And that me that was here before did a lot of work for me, but I feel like there's still so much to do and I'm not sure who I can trust on board and. . .yeah."

"It's just a weird, weird situation."

"I don't think you get used to this sort of thing," Paco said, frowning thoughtfully. "I mean, yeah, you get used to the little stuff like the fighting and the explosions and that stuff, but when you go from 'saving the Earth' to 'saving the omniverse', I think you're supposed to get a little freaked. And yeah, there's a hell of a lot to do, but at least you don't have to do it alone, right?" He gave Jaime a friendly shake. Just a reminder that he still had his best friend, so he shouldn't get too 'solo hero' on the whole situation.

"As for who you can trust, well, that's always been my job hasn't it?" He grinned. "I'm good at people. Who you got questions about?"

"No, I don't have to do it alone, you're right. That's. . .really a relief." He looked at Paco with an awkward sort of smile.

"I'm glad you're here, really. I'm just worried by all the notes and stuff the other me left. Some stuff about Khaji and the people on the ship. From what I saw, it seemed like everyone has their own agenda."

"Is something wrong?" Sho asks as he walks near Jaime. He sighs and sits down, tired from walking all over the city. Sho still had a lot more of it to see. He hadn't met this person yet, so he honestly didn't know what was going on. Sho could probably guess how Jaime was feeling though.

"I guess you're feeling sort of helpless."

"Not helpless. Just overwhelmed," Jaime replied, looking up at Sho. He appraised the newcomer for a moment, then shrugged.

"It's a long story. Well. Not really."

Sho shrugs back. "Hey, I've got time. It's not like anyone's making me do anything around here anyway. Besides, I need a break after walking around so much." Sho stretches his arms and legs out.

"I'd rather be overwhelmed than helpless anyway."

"Yeah. That's true." Jaime rubbed a hand across the back of his neck, shaking his head after a moment of silence.

"Just. Saving the multiverse isn't quite what I had in mind for my future, you know?"
