Things had pretty much gone back to normal with Kang, though he still refused to talk at length about what had happened during the recent mission, and clammed up completely about what had happened with him specifically. He hadn't seen or heard from Ronon since he'd gotten back, which was worrisome, so he'd canceled the Warfare Training for a bit; ( Read more... )

Tony was down in the city - it felt a bit more like home then the rest of the ship. He was actually on his way down to the Dragon to see if he could rustle up some booze. He gave Kang a nod, "Hey, big dude. Long time no see."

Kang turned, blinking, not recognizing that voice. Oh, one of the wolves from the scent. And, he looked familiar. "I'm sorry, I've seen you around before, but I don't think I ever got your name."

"Oh? Sorry 'bout that. Tony Plays-in-Traffic. Tony or Plays works," He gave Kang a grin and offered his hand. "You're Kang, right?"

"That's me," Kang smiled, shaking the man's hand. "Haven't heard your name in a while, though. Did GLaDOS snag you?"

Howard too, had been wandering around the city, trying to get a feel for it. If we was at all surprised by Kang, he didn't show it.

"Hey buddy," he said, "got a light?"

Kang had seen a lot of weird things in his life, even before Stacy. Something like a talking duck that was barely even taller than his knees didn't even faze him anymore.

"...as in a lighter? Afraid not."

He really didn't look like the type to carry around a lighter anyways, in medieval-style clothing.

Howard shrugs and replaced his cigar in a small case, before putting the whole thing in his pocket.

"Eh, worth a shot," he says. "People keep telling me I should quit anyway. Maybe I oughta listen."

"You're new, aren't you?" Kang asked, pretty certain he would have heard of someone like this before. "Name's Kang. I'm one of the Councilmembers, and I run the Drunken Dragon Tavern here."

There was something about being in uniform again that made a girl walk tall - even if she was kind of reconsidering her decision to put the Rogues in red undershirts. Something about it was just... odd looking.

Still, the bomber jackets were comfortable and the dress uniforms were sleek, and Rein did good work. When Trudy headed to her usual haunt at the tavern after the day's exercises, she was in a fantastic mood.

"Hey, Kang!" she called. "You're never here at this hour - come have a drink, would you?"

Happy to see Trudy, Kang fetched two full tankards of ale and sat down next to her, taking a closer look at her new uniform with an approving nod. "...not bad. Now you actually look like you know what the hell you're doing."

He shrugged, "Warfare Training's put on hold for now. I've gotta kill time somehow."

Trudy snorted at him, aiming a friendly punch at his shoulder. "I always look like I know what I'm doing," she said. "I have no idea what you're doing to to release all that pent-up stress if you can't beat the snot out of your recruits every day."

Kang laughed, rubbing his shoulder playfully. It hadn't really hurt, but he'd still felt it, "The Sensoriums, mostly. And believe it or not, I go easy on them. They don't want to know what training's like in Teyr."

Sho was exploring the city today, in his ever continuing self-imposed task of seeing all of the ship. This part would take the longest, but it was certainly the most interesting. It made him realize just how big the ship really was.

While he had been some people who looked vaguely alien with strange features and skin colors, Sho hadn't noticed anyone too unusual yet. He rounds a corner and looks up from the ground to see Kang. He feels his blood run cold and steps back, heart racing.

"A zoanoid...?" Sho is about to change forms, but calms down when he realizes that Kang likely wasn't a zoanoid. For once, he was dressed, and two, Kang didn't have the crazed, mindless look in his eyes. Sho sighs in relief.

"I'm really sorry. You reminded me of something from my world."

Kang paused, tensing slightly, and was careful to keep his hands away from his weapons to try and look less intimidating. "No need to apologize, I've gotten used to reactions like that." It was still a bit irritating, but there wasn't anything he could do about it.

"You must be new."

Sho gulps and nods to Kang. "Yeah, I was in the last...pod pop." He's still getting used to some of the terminology used here. He manages to relax a bit and bows humbly.

"Really though, I shouldn't have done that. I thought you were a zoanoid and you can't be too careful..." Sho scratches the back of his neck nervously. "My name's Sho Fukamachi. What's yours?"

By that point, Kang had gotten used to some of the Asian crewmembers bowing in greeting, so it didn't make him uncomfortable anymore. He relaxed, smiling, "It's fine, really. Name's Kang; I own the tavern here, and I'm one of the councilmembers."

Conveniently enough, Tavros was hanging out in Hydroponics when the bozak in question rolled on through. He'd been concentrating, using his communing abilities to draw a strange avian creature closer to him out of simple curiosity, when he noticed Kang wandering by.

"Hey, uh... Kang?"

As he lets the psychic bond slip, the creature flutters off. Hoo boy, this was gonna be a bit awkward. In the excitement of getting back and running into old friends and new at podpop, he hadn't had a chance to speak to the lifelong member of Team Dad since returning from the mission.

"...Tavros," Kang said after a moment, not remembering the kid's name at first. In his mind, he could still see the human kid that had been sitting in the office. His wings rustled slightly, "Are you... doing alright?"

They hadn't spoken much before, if at all, but Kang was enough of a presence on the ship that Tavros at least knew of him. He's a bit surprised that he knows his name. "Yeah, that's right. Uh, sorry, for not saying anything sooner. Things got a little, uh, crazy, after we came back. Some of my troll friends are here now, and, um, I wanted to find Alex again, stuff like that..."

He twiddles his fingers, looking a bit shy again. It was weird, facing the same person as a dragon instead of a human, and yet it feels so much like the last time.

"I just wanted to, uh, thank you, for talking to me. I guess, there wasn't much, that, either of us could have done at that point, but, uh, it still helped a lot."

Kang made a point of learning the names of the people that he was supposed to take care of during missions. It was a habit he'd picked up as an officer years ago. He snorted softly, "I'm glad that I could help, even if I wasn't really aware of what was going on yet."
