There's Snow Place Like Home [Bendytimed to between the Ohm simulation and the Second Life plot]

A recent walk through the hangar had confirmed to Jamie that the TARDIS had been put back into whatever place it was that Stacy stored ships when their owners were in the pods. Overall, it didn't make too much difference - none of them had been able to get into it anyway. Still, he had liked to slip away from time to time just to take a look at it ( Read more... )

Turlough walked in the snow. He was surprised when he saw the TARDIS there, immediately hating himself for the beat of hope that he got. Of course it wasn't real, he was gone, he was always going to be gone, leaving him here with these people before he'd even had a chance to meet up with him again.

Turlough walked up the TARDIS and gave it a hard kick. Which he reflected after he let out a Trion curse, wasn't terribly wise and quite painful.

Inside the simulated TARDIS, Jamie - after a bit of fiddling - had managed to get the monitor turned on. It had been awhile since he had a chance to use it, and he was pleased...for all of about three seconds, until he realized there really wasn't going to be anything interesting outside unless he thought it up.

He had just been about to turn away to go see what else he could remember using from the console when he caught a glimpse of another crew member, just as the other man gave the TARDIS a good, hard kick. Jamie frowned, irrationally annoyed by the gesture. He moved around to throw the lever that would open the doors leading outside.

A moment later, a rather annoyed looking Scotsman stuck his head out from the blue doors and scowled at Turlough. "Hey, what do ye think ye are doing?"

"Hurting my foot," he muttered back with a glare. Obviously, was the clear addition to the end of his sentence.

"Well, I'm not the one that decided it would be a good idea to kick the TARDIS," Jamie replied. Honestly, what was it with people coming in and attacking the things he thought up? First it was that very strange man who had set the moors on fire, and now this guy.

He folded his arms against his chest. "What made ye decide to go and do that, anyway?"

Every hacker needs to have a mischievousness streak. That was part of what turned them from plain old programmers to hackers, after all.

And sometimes a prank on a friend wasn't a bad idea either. Alex could only think of one person who would have the TARDIS in the sensoriums. Jamie.

With sensorium-made gloves, Alex packed up a few snow balls and pushed open the door to the TARDIS, calling out, "Jamie?"

Jamie seems to be occupied with rummaging through a large wooden chest that's been pushed up against one of the walls of the TARDIS, pulling things out and frowning at them before setting them aside. "No, that's not it. No...no...och. Where did that wee thing get to?"

He's so caught up in searching that he fails to notice Alex approach until his name is called. Glancing up from the chest, he turns towards the direction of the sound with a slightly puzzled look on his face.

"Hey?"

A snowball rushes towards Jamie headed directly for his knee as Alex continued to wear the sort of smile only his computer screen usually saw.

This plan works perfectly. Jamie's poor, unsuspecting knee is now festooned with snow, and the puzzled look is promptly replaced with a rather indignant one.

"Hey!"

He should have expected it, really, when he decided to stick the TARDIS in the middle of a field of snow. Right. Challenge accepted.

"Oh, I see. Let's find out how much ye like it, then!

Quickly, Jamie makes a dash for the still-open doors, all the better to get outside and getting some snow of his own for retaliation. It's a risky move - depending on how many snowballs Alex has, Jamie could get well-pelted before he gets outside. And yes, he could think up more snow inside the TARDIS, but where's the fun in that?

Her own steps into the Sensorium are slow and curious. It's been a long time since Kaylee's seen snow--not since Tracy's funeral, now that she thinks about it. Most days, she probably would have spent some time making a snow angel or building up a ship out of snow, but today there's a very familiar Big Blue Box waiting for inspection.

The ice crunches nicely under her feet, all the way up to the wooden box. Kaylee is unsure of where exactly to start, and runs a hand over the wooden panels a couple times before doing the silly thing and knocking.

Inside the TARDIS, Jamie is fiddling with something from the chest he doesn't recognize - another one of the Doctor's many odd acquisitions from some distant planet. It was a bit like a metal puzzle, made out of a complex arrangement of very small parts, and he can't make head or tail of it.

Caught up in trying to figure it out, it takes him a moment for him to notice the knocking. Once it finally gets his attention, though, he glances up at the monitor and a broad smile appears. Just the person he wants to see! Going over to the lever that opens the doors, he pulls it and they start to swing open.

As they do so, he steps to the side and out of the way of an immediate glance from someone coming in. If anyone deserves a chance to simply gawk at the inside of the TARDIS without Jamie getting in the way, it's Kaylee.

She feels a bit odd, knocking on the TARDIS when she's only ever seen the locked one during its short stay in the ship bay, but she does keeps on knocking when she doesn't get an answer with the first round. Her hand is raised to start a third round when the doors open up.

Several seconds are spent with Kaylee simply standing there in mildly confused awe. A hand comes up to double check that it really is just a small wooden box before she tentatively steps inside, glancing at Jamie as she does so. She pauses halfway through the door to double-check the outside again, then gives Jamie an excited grin and moves forward quickly to the central panels.

"She always like this, or just in here? What's she runnin' on? What's this do..." Kaylee trails off, head disappearing to check under the panels.

Jamie waits for Kaylee to come in, and when she doesn't do so immediately, he impatiently starts forward to tell that it's fine to do so just as she does enter. Oh well, so much for hiding. He's enjoying her reaction enough that he doesn't mind, and his mouth twitches with a suppressed smile.

There's certainly enough things under the panels to get her attention, what with the various parts the Doctor's got hooked up down there - not to mention the panel containing the emergency unit that wound up sending them to the Land of Fiction. A lot of the wiring is still a bit of a cat's cradle to Jamie, but it should prove fascinating for the mechanic. There's also a handle down there if she needs it to hold on to, although he doesn't think she does, since they're not moving.

"Now, look, I'll not be able to answer your questions if ye keep asking them that fast," he says, dryly. "Which one do ye want me to start with?"
