Those heading to the sensorium after Commander Rahk's announcement would find themselves inside a rather technologically advanced looking base, a number of armored soldiers bustling about.

Rahk himself was there, standing in front of a command station with a large screen overlooking the waiting battlefield outside, which appeared to be the ruins of ( Read more... )

The first crew members made their way in, ready for the test to start.

Volstagg himself, God of... Possibly obesity, Odin only knew, is the first to arrive. He peers around, warping the Sensoriums around him to give him his proper coat and britches, rather than the skin-hugging plant suit. He had his sword and helmet already, and wasn't too sure he'd need anything else. After all, he was a god. Let the mortals have their little hot gas guns. If he wanted to blow hot air, he'd either open his mouth or cook some of that mortal chili!

"Well," he starts, peering around the base that the Commander had brought up. "It certainly is very shiny."

"Shiny? That is your first impression regarding the base?" God of obesity, meet the Son of Satan, the Prince of Scowls.

"Well, it is! Have you a better title for it?" Small... Demonling? Whatever it is you are, Daimon. He's not quite sure. "Mortals are so insistent about their technology being shiny. I was being complimentary!"

Battle Stations! armsraced December 9 2010, 00:51:12 UTC
Once Rahk felt that enough crew had arrived, he decided to start the simulation.

All of a sudden, klaxons began to sound, and the simulated troops began running out through marked corridors. Large, flashing signs pointed the way to the battlefield.

Those following the soldiers outside would find Ohm Grunts and other Ohm troops pouring through the streets of a ruined, futuristic city towards the base they would be defending. Numerous entrenched defensive positions stood between the Ohm and the base, manned by simulated soldiers.

It was time to get to work.

Sam had arrived with Dean, getting the lay of the land until the klaxons started going off. He left his brother with a shoulder squeeze and a promise, then headed for the ships.

X-Wings were harder to handle in the atmosphere, but they'd work. And the cover fire would be needed.

<< Rogue Five, ready to rock. Let's do this. >>

< Are you certain this is wise? >

Sam flipped his engines on. < Wiser than you talking while I'm shooting. >

Danny hopped into his fighter.

"Rogue Eight here. Let's get to work."

Trudy adjusted her head set, listening to the call signs filter into her ears. "Rogue Leader, checking in. All right boys, remember - we're in atmosphere this time. You can't pull most of the wild maneuvers we're used to in space or you'll blow yourselves up. Got it?"

The last thing Trudy wanted was for her branch of command to embarrass the hell out of themselves in this fight.

A few, Captain Leon included, would be staying behind inside the base, commanding the battlefield from behind the lines.

Commander Rahk stood silently nearby as he watched the battle unfold.

It was a weird moral dilemma. Dick knew himself. Knew that he couldn't be one of the ones out there taking lives. One day, he was probably going to have to, in order to save his team or the crew. But this was a simulation and, for the moment, he was of more use in the command center. He was a tactician, one of the best in his world. And that was what they needed right now.

"X-Wings off the ground," he reported, toggling to a skyview. Easier to get the lay of the land, literally. He wanted a better idea of where the Ohm were.

Leon looked around at the myriad of screens displaying a wealth of information. Thankfully, he would have people to parse the bulk of that for him, so he'd get what he'd need to know, and not drown in irrelevant data.

Admittedly, a large part of him felt like he should be out on the front lines with his crew, but that wasn't his place for this.

"How much time until the enemy is in combat range?"

One of the simulated intelligence officers at a nearby command station replied to Leon.

"30 seconds and counting, sir."

By the time the crew got into defensive positions, the Ohm were nearly upon them.

A massive wave of Grunts came hurtling forward, with Grenadiers and Shrikes following soon behind.

The simulated troops at the forward defensive positions were the first hit, firing desperately into the Ohm lines. Despite the casualties they were inflicting, the enemy kept pushing up.

It wouldn't do to lose precious ground this early in the battle. The crew would have to push back soon if they wanted to have any hope of winning.

"DIVINE... BUSTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!"

You want a push? Here's a big push, courtesy of the Magic Department head's daughter. A massive burst of rainbow-colored energy shot forth, tearing through the forces and giving a small opening to the others.

"C'mon! We got something big to do, everyone!" Vivio cried out.

"You want something big? I think I can accommodate you, Miss." Decade said, having changed into his armor while heading out from the base.

He reached down to the RideBooker on his side, pulling it out. Ratcheting the handle back forty-five degrees, a barrel extended out, changing the RideBooker into its Gun Form.

Decade looked out over the Ohm, and decided on his initial plan of attack: pulling out a golden card. Pulling on the edge of his buckle, it opened up, a slot at the top. He tossed in the golden card, and *FINAL ATTACK RIDE!* rang out.

Levelling his RideBooker at the Ohm hordes. Then, closing the buckle, *D-D-D-DECADE!* resounded ( ... )

As the battle began to heat up, a call went out to the crew.

"Attention, enemy Node has been located, I repeat, enemy Node has been located," one of the simulated intelligence officers at the command center blared through the comms.

One of the Bluestar Dropships, filled with two eight-man squads of GIA heavy troopers, dropped from the sky, setting down near the front lines. The eight nearest crew-members were alerted of it's position, with instructions to make their way to it.

Jono heard the instructions and started heading that direction. The Nodes had interested him since he had first heard of them. Then again, as a telepath, that probably wasn't unusual.

He reinforced his shields as he got closer, waiting on the others and getting a feel for the Node.

The Sangheili Captain was not far indeed from the dropship's landing position, the news and instructions clear through his comms. Taking a few last shots at the Ohm attacking the defenses with the pair of plasma rifle's he had acquired. Slung over his back a GIA Heavy plasma launcher.

In but a moment his strides carried him to the position indicated at the dropship, a nod given to the human already ahead of him "It is time to take the fight to the enemy," He would call, calmly and with that near natural tone of command though with a tinge of anticipation for the coming fight. Standing at the ready to repel any Ohm that would come close to the dropship if the troopers wished them to board, until all of the other seven were gathered.

Hikari, already using her pactio she made with Negi after the last time she had been in battle with the Ohm, nodded despite the fact that they couldn't see it. And then blasted the Ohm with a magic blast, before turning over towards Angewomon. Who had blasted a nearby ohm of her own. "Angewomon! We need to make it over towards the drop ship!"

"Got it!" Angewomon shouted back, before both she and Hikari flew over towards where it was supposed to be.
