Pussycat, Pussycat, Where Have You Been? [Open]

In a truly feline move, Arhu wandered into the cafeteria as nonchalantly as if he hadn't been missing for who-knows-how-long. His tail waved through the air above him, and he approached Stacy's sensor and seated himself neatly, tail wrapped around his feet ( Read more... )

She'd mostly decided to man up and eat this shit as quickly as she could. That there were a few other people in the same situation at least made it feel a lot easier to choke it down. Once again though, Stacy was going to throw any bit of common sense in so simple an act for a special little twist.

Because now there was a CAT, a TALKING CAT, doing magic at the end of the table while she just sort of stared. It was at least advantageous to be in outfit now.

"What are you doing?" She asked the cat point blank.

As he was in the middle of a spell - alright, toward the end - he didn't answer her just yet. Instead he finished it up, and then said the word that was the wizard's knot, the equivalent of hitting the 'go' button. With a flash of silvery light, the contents of the bowl shifted and reformed, and then there was a raw piece of meat sitting in there. It wasn't particularly identifiable meat, but it was meat.

"Making this edible," he said smugly, waving his tail at her as he held it in place with a paw and began tearing at it.

Hit Girl stared a full minute. Seriously, this place was high on her "weird shit-o-meter," but so far animals, unlike Beastboy, could not speak, until she saw him do so now. She sighed.

"Ok, so you're a cat that does magic," she said, shaking her head. "What sort of world do you come from?"

The smug-kitty look was still in full force as he looked over at her. "Earth. Pretty standard version of the universe, too. And of course I do magic, I'm a wizard. There are ehhif wizards too, y'know."

He tilted his head curiously at her. Arhu was in no way any sort of expert on ehhif fashions, but there was something about her that didn't look quite like the people dressed similarly that he'd seen around the City. "What about you?"

At first Pyro was simply enamored by the spontaneous appearance of a KITTY (awww, who's a cute widdle kitty! You are! Yes you are~!). But then it occurred to him that it was not only talking, but using freaky voodoo on the slop. This was not just any cat- no, this was some kind of super cat, which made it even better.

While pondering the existence of the supercat, Pyro continued to stare at it through his soulless gasmask eye holes. Are you feeling creeped out yet, Arhu?

So much love. <3 seeing_eye_cat December 8 2010, 16:19:00 UTC
Yes. Yes, he very much is.

Arhu had seen a lot in his admittedly-short life, including a whole race of dinosaurs that called him Father, and a Victorian world decimated by nuclear war. But this was...weird. Really weird.

Fur rising up his spine, he gave Pyro the wary look of a cat who's eating and doesn't want someone to get in the way of said highly-important eating. If the thing came anything closer, there would be the beginnings of a protective growl rising up inside of him.

Finally, he couldn't stand just being stared at any longer, and wiped his whiskers clean of meat bits before sitting primly to stare at him. "Dai stiho," he offered, the wizardly salutation that meant 'go well,' both a greeting and a farewell when used.

"What." Was the response. The Pyro tilted his head. "Hey, I know you can talk English, I just heard you."

Now he was kind of looking past the supercat, at the spot where the delicious not-gross-slop had just been. It only served to remind Pyro just how badly he wanted a real sandwich.

"Uh...yeah, I can. I was just saying 'hi,'" he said slowly, voice doubtful as he eyed the Thing. Arhu's ears canted back uncertainly, his tail-tip twitching spasmodically back and forth.

When he saw the Thing's head move, he instinctively got back between it and his food. His food. He'd changed it himself.

Alistair...sort of prided himself on how he'd been handling all the weird things on the ship so far. But this...this was just about the strangest thing he'd seen so far.

It was a cat. A cat that could, by the looks of things, do magic.

That sort of precluded the normal nonsense he'd babble at it, so he settled for trying not to gape like a beached fish while he gathered what little wits he had to speak of.

"I...well, master pussycat, I think I'm impressed. Are all felines so well-lettered, where you are from?"

He couldn't wait to tell Namira. But preferably she'd come meet this cat without Hakkar. Alistair hoped.

He kept his focus on the bowl until he said the wizard's knot, a flash of light changing the glop to something closer to real meat. He'd definitely emphasized the proteins, at the very least.

Looking up at the ehhif, he flipped his tail lazily.

"Nope. Of course, even some wizards can have problems with ehhif writing, though not me." What is this 'modesty' you speak of?

He'd had enough experience with cats to know that they were just as modest as they desired to be. It elicited a smile, though--even if it was closer to an all-teeth-bared-goofy grin.

"I haven't met many wizards who were also cats. They tend to be human where I am from." Though he was reacting better than he had to say...Tavros. Spouting off about darkspawn. How embarrassing.

"Actually, though, one of my friends is a wizard. Though we called them mages in Ferelden. I think she'd like to meet you. Maybe you could talk about magic, and I could distract her dog." Because that's a good plan you know will work, Alistair.

Arhu waved his tail dismissively.

"Ehhif wizards aren't bad, but they're definitely not the only ones out there." There were even a few canine wizards, for all that he thought the idea was ridiculous. Though with that in mind...

"If your friend has a houff, I doubt it'd be a problem to deal with," he said, yawning theatrically and then pulling his mouth open in an approximation of what humans thought of as a smile. "That's if it could even see me." Then he sidled where he was, in and out of the hyperstrings so that he appeared and disappeared in stripes. It was harder to sidle on Stacy, but he'd been doing it for a long time. And besides, the most important part of showing off is looking like it isn't hard at all.

Had Daja not met Rhiow before, she'd have been considerably more surprised by a talking cat.

And that wasn't the only thing that was familiar - that magic was also familiar.

"Excuse me, are you from Rhiow's world?" she asked, curious. "Your magic reminds me of hers." Well, the fact that he was a talking cat also reminded her of Rhiow, but she thought that might be too impolite to say.

Having just finished the spell, he turned startled green eyes on the ehhif-queen, honestly caught out for once.

"You know Rhiow?" Well, of course he knew that Rhiow would know people onboard. She'd said as much, several times. Still, it surprised him. After a moment he turned away for a quick bout of composure-grooming.

"Then you are from her world!" Daja said, smiling. " And yes, I do know her - she was very helpful to me, when I first set up my forge. Without her, I wouldn't have much steel at all for my work."

She twisted her staff in her hand. Now that she knew that the black and white cat was from Rhiow's world, she'd been reminded of a conversation she'd once had with Rhiow. "I think she may have spoken of you, actually. Would you be Arhu?"

"Yeah, that's me. She's my team leader." Though the rest of the team - his sister Sif, and Urruah - were nowhere to be found. Yet. They were just still in the pods, he told himself. He just really wished they were out here, where the four of them could be a team again. "Who are you?"

Not but a table away a certain dragon watched the cat with some manner of curiosity, not wishing to interrupt the workings of the spell the feline was clearly weaving, at least for her. She could sense the weaving of a spell so close by, and with but a thought she shifted her vision to observe the flows of energy that resulted at the culmination of the felines spell. She couldn't help but sense a familiarity between this felines magic and the magics Rhiow had used, even in the brief times she had encountered such.

She would wait until after the Feline had woven his magic before she would speak up, "A fine use of a spell indeed," she would comment with some amusement at the result of the magic, having the slop in such a form would be far more appetizing than its current form. "Greetings, in any event,"

"Thanks," he said, smug as ever as he looked over the resulting meat-like substance. "It could be better - I had to include all the nutrients in here, not just the stuff you find in meat, and there's no spices or anything. But it isn't bad for a start."

Arhu looked up at her then and paused only for a moment. Different coloring and detailed shape, but the general shape he got from her reminded him a whole lot of Ith, which was a dose of solid familiarity in the midst of strangeness.

"Welcome," She would dip her head and give an amused look, "No doubt better than its previous consistency. I'm sure it would not be hard to acquire such spices should one really desire, but indeed one has to start somewhere," The dragon would comment, peering down to her only half eaten allocation of slop with the softest of chuckles.

Celena could not help but notice that pause idly as she watched the much smaller feline, had he seen one like her in his own world? Or did her appearance give him pause, nevertheless she gave something of a draconic smile down to the feline, "In any event, I am Celena, a pleasure to meet you," she would dip her head in way of introduction.

"It'd be better if I could just get actual meat," Arhu grumbled, giving the bowl an annoyed glare. "I don't know why she gives food to us in the form of slop. What if you can't stand the taste of it or the texture, and don't eat it unless you're starving? There's a waste of energy right there." Not that he'd let that happen to him. But he'd be a lot more likely to eat more often if it tasted better.

"Hunt's Luck, Celena. I'm Arhu." He turned to look up at her once more as he sat down on the table, wrapping his tail neatly about his feet.
