Perhaps it was sort of unnecessary for Samus to call Chief into her office, but in all honesty she preferred to speak in person. She was never quite sure of the security of it, so even when she was passing along completely unclassified information, habit forced her to request a meeting in person ( Read more... )

The Chief walks into Samus's office and immediately notes the small arsenal lying across the desk.

"What is all this?" he asks, eyeing the gun pile and the remote. They have no clear purpose that he can discern, especially the remote.

Samus immediately sets down the frame, perhaps drawing more attention to it that she would have if she left it alone. She pretends not to care, though (which is a fairly easy feat for her), and greets the Chief with a nod.

"These," she picks up the rifle at the end of her desk, "are security's newest toys. I had them commissioned for the firearm training sessions."

"What do they do?" he asks.

Well, orange markers. Training. That gives him some inkling. In the meantime, he glances at the frame. Huh, he hadn't though Samus would be one to decorate. He wonders what's in it, but it's not a major curiosity. Most of his attention's on the alleged new toys.

"Take a look. Take one apart if you want." she holds it out for him to take. The most noticeable difference (besides the orange) is that these seem to lack bullets. Instead, there is some sort of mechanism on the inside. It's purpose isn't clear. "Had to make sure that they wouldn't accidentally get mixed in with any real weapons. They're completely non-lethal. I almost went with paint guns, but I think these will work better."

She seems almost excited about this. Except for the fact that she hasn't explained what they do yet.
