Matt shifted in his bed, eliciting a grunt of pain. Blinking, he realized belatedly that he was in a bed. Hmm... was he ( Read more... )

Katara ahd already been working on it. Although she was barred from the city due to the contamination, there were still other ways for Katara to get water, and after getting the okay she'd brought it to the bus. The naked part she had let Arika handle for obvious reasons, but she had done the healing. Arika had moved the bus, as Katara was still a little shaky about moving vehicles.

She'd briefly looked over the newly pod popped, but worry for Matt had stopeed her from introducing herself. The new crowd would get acclumated without her, and she was sure the Doctor would look in on Jamie. Nanoha, she figured, would not want her to be seen like this, so she'd left her in the bay. With all of those contained, she knew full well no one could attend to Matt yet, so she;d stayed, watching over him.

As she entered, she heard him ask for water. She rushed over, opening his mouth gently and pouring the liquid in slowly.

"How are you feeling?"

Matt drank the water and sighed when his thirst was sated. "I ache all over," he said honestly. "Did you heal me? I'm pretty sure that I had broken a few bones and got some internal injuries in that fight."

She looked so worried and Matt wondered how long he had been out.

"You ought to be," Katara said, shaking a finger at him in an attempt to look playful, though her eyes looked far from it. "And yeah, I did, but Arika bandaged you up first. You definitely owe her some thanks. She also kept me under control. I have to admit I lost my head a little. It's a good thing you have people looking after you!"

She brought her hand over her hair anxiously. "What happened to you?"

"Asuna..." said Matt. "She wasn't well. She was... strange, irrational. She got extremely violent on me when I tried to get her help. I barely survived that but she snapped out of it for just a moment. Told her... princesses shouldn't cry..."

He swallowed, his throat dry. "I hope she made it to contagion. I don't blame her though."

A green-haired, rather vapid (but cheerful) girl poked her head in, then back out. A moment later she came back into the room proper, carrying around the thing Matt surely wanted to see most in the world right now -- a massive tome with a face and a ridiculously awesome voice.

"Huh. Awake at last. I was beginning to wonder if that girl's healing skills were as good as she claimed."

Zetta's people skills are just off the chart today.

Matt looked at the talking book with a face and he arched an eyebrow before smiling. "Zetta is it? I'm glad to see you. Thanks for coming to my aid. I'd shake your hand but my arms feel like lead weights and, well, you don't have any."

A little weird but he was feeling a little out of sorts. "Katara does good healing," he admitted. "Very good healing. I'd be more out of it if she hadn't attended to me."

"Hyaaa ha ha ha!" Now the book was cheerful. "It's about time I started getting some respect around here! Though you could take a little less note of the lack of arms," it added.

"And yeah. She was pretty calm under pressure," he admitted. "Watching her trying not to freak out? Honestly kind of funny. So she's your girlfriend?"

Yes. Zetta went there. In his defense, it seemed pretty damn obvious.

"It's part of what I do," replied Matt honestly.

At the girlfriend thing he flushed a little. "Girlfriend? Katara? No, she's not. Just really important to me s'all. She and I were friends since I woke up."
