It was one exhausted, tired, alien puke-covered, acid blood-burnt group of people that trundled out of the hangar and into the ship proper. Their mission? Had sucked. Their intel had been wrong. Their lives had nearly been forfeit

Rose sat on an empty bed, swinging her legs. "Shouldn't the others get checked out first? I might've cracked some ribs when I got grabbed, but other than that I’m fine." Besides, wasn't the scanning mostly to find out if an alien larva had taken up residence somewhere in her chest cavity? She already knew one had, thanks.
Tobias would obviously be uninjured, but the parasite check was apparently a mandatory sort of thing, so he waited in line. It might not be a Yeerk, but the whole thing still made him want to hurl at the thought.
Rose shot a worried look over at the others before trailing after him obediently. "Well, you're not me, luckily for all involved. I'd be a terrible doctor and you'd have gone gray with the number of times I've almost died."
She bit back a gasp; there was a sharp burst of pain as if to remind her that, yes, this could be the end for her. Cheeky bastard.
Geez, if she managed to survive this, the Doctor would never let her off the ship again.
This was a bed actually meant for surgery instead of the impromptu surgery theater they'd made around Hiccup's.
"Lay down. Stacy, prep the patient for surgery."
A screen went around the area, tentacles started tugging off Rose's plantsuit, and as the doctor slipped on one of the gnarly-looking surgical gloves, he asked, "Is there anyone you would like to be informed of your condition and surgery?"
"I think it's just a bit over-excited." Another gasp, this time accompanied by a curse. "Okay, I might be wrong about that."
Getting stripped by tentacles managed to out-weird getting dressed by them--something Rose was less than pleased with finding out.
"The Doctor." And since that wouldn't be enough because Stacy seemed intent on collecting multiples of him, she added: "Tall, thin, hair like he's been dragged through a hedge backwards."
She couldn't help eying the glove. "I'm hoping that's the lesser of two evils."

Stoick's large hands curled into fists as he nodded. "I am. H-how is he?" It hadn't looked good from his viewpoint, but maybe, just maybe there was some hope left that Hiccup would recover.

Kang stayed where he was, leaning against the wall, and listened intently. His own feelings were obvious by the set of his wings, though, and how quickly his head snapped up at the voice of the doctor.

Rose was sleeping on one of medbay’s many cots, a sheet pulled up to her chest. One wrist was wrapped in an organic cuff, attached tubing spiraling up to the ceiling.
For the most part, her injuries were minor: the usual scrapes and bruises that came from being chased through dark tunnels, plus some burns courtesy of the aliens’ acidic blood.
Only the ring of darkening bruises around her neck and the line of newly-healed flesh along her sternum indicated that she’d come so close to dying.
The anesthesia was wearing off and she’d be waking soon.

Rose had always been slow to wake, the type that dawdled in the blissful area between sleep and waking. She opened her eyes, squinting at the sudden influx of light.
Ugh... She felt like she'd been hit by a lorry.
The memory of red hair splayed across the tarmac. A wince. Bad analogy.
The chirping pulled her out of her reverie; she knew that voice. "Renne?"
She tried to sit up without dislodging the sheet, to which her body responded that, no, it was happily in the horizontal position and didn't plan on changing that anytime soon, thank you. Rose flopped down and settled for craning her neck to look for the blue critter.

"You likely have hours or even minutes left to live. Miss, I would not be taking such a blase attitude about your current condition."
"Now, if you will follow me, it's time for surgery."
Another version of the hologram would be there to scan the others.

"You are the boy's father, I presume?" said the Doctor to Stoick.
