Just Missing a Little Something [OPEN]

Finding her barn and being able to stay at her house were things Cassie didn't think would happen again until after they were done with the yeerk invasion. Arriving here only made her think that she would have to wait longer or never even see them again. It certainly warmed her to find them here, but at the same time it seemed to emphasize what ( Read more... )

Marco had gotten sick of crawling through the network just so he could try and figure out who the hell all these candidates were, and decided to go for the easy option the Animorphs had always gone with when needing a character assessment - asking Cassie.

Big surprise, Cassie was out hugging the trees and frolicking with the animals.

"Tsk, tsk. The psychic tree is going to be crushed Cassie. Crushed. Look at you, cheating on it with all these other trees. Have you no shame?"

She turned around and looked at Marco when he started talking. She wasn't expecting any of the other to just randomly show up so it did surprise her a little bit, but she quickly recovered.

She tried to quickly think of a reply to Marco's joke. Rachel was always better at it than she was so she tried to think of something Rachel would say.

Unfortunately she couldn't think of anything, so all Marco got in reply was a pathetic 'no?'.

Marco shook his head slowly. "I'm disappointed, Cassie. Disappointed. And to think, that psychic tree is just sitting around all alone..."

Sidling over, Marco looked at some of the animals that were wondering around. "Man, they have some weird stuff here. I don't think I even want to know what that thing is," he said, watching some weird giraffe/bug thing eating a tree.

She smiled at the ongoing joke he made about her and the psychic tree before looking at what Marco was talking about. “After everything we’ve seen, you’re still thinking that alien things are weird… I think they look fine.” She kept her smile as she looked at it. The animals here were definitely different than those at home, but they were animals all the same and she wondered what their disposition was.

Beastboy had found his way to Hydroponics as a man on a mission.

As a bloodhound he was sniffling and working his way around trying to find his ultimate goal, soy beans!

Sadly for Beastboy if there were soybeans in the area he was unable to locate them, so he opted instead to shift back to his normal form and sprawl out under a tree.

"Don't eat the fruit Beastboy...whatever you do do NOT eat the fruit. It's not yours." He kept repeating over and over.

But whatever that fruit hanging above him was...it smelled so good!!! Mush was taking it's toll on him.

Cassie noticed the unmistakable green skin of Beastboy before she heard him talking, but gave a small smile anyway before looking up a the mentioned fruit. “Are we not supposed to eat it?” It did look good, but it could be poisonous to them. Or it could be strictly for the animals.

Beastboy blinked and looked shocked gazing down at his stomach confused, "Tummy was that you? Why do you have a girls voice?" He apparently hadn't noticed Cassie yet.

She laughed a little bit before walking around to sit down where he could see her. "Nope, just Cassie."

The Hydroponics area was different from the other areas on the ship Aftran had been to, with the possible exception of the Sensoriums; the city was nice, but here was just pure nature. It was breathtaking, really. She told herself she could do without the place, but she'd been here a number of times since it had opened up and she was starting to doubt whether or not she could actually stay away.

Karen noted, and the Yeerk did her best to ignore her. The girl's opinion didn't matter.

Cassie paused when she noticed Karen. She remembered being told that Aftran was still in her and it made her feel a little weird after everything that they had went through. Still she couldn’t ignore her. She had been wanting to talk to them since she found out they were here and together. “Hello,” she started.

Aftran heard the strange voice from nearby, and turned to see who was there. She smiled a little, and replied, "Hi!" It was clear she didn't recognize Cassie.

It was very strange to see her again, knowing the two of them, but have them not remember her. Still, she had to say something else and not just look at her. This was the closest to woods they had in here and it would be just that setting in which she saw Karen and Aftran again. She knew they wouldn't do the same things as the last time. She wasn't hurt, and they weren't lost. "Do you come here a lot? It's my first real time here."

Without the warfare training to keep him occupied for the past few weeks while he was healing, Kang was... bored. He had the tavern, but with Hisk's help, he didn't have to spend as much time there, and he needed something physical to do, to burn off energy. So, he'd resorted to taking walks often.

This particular walk brought him to Hydroponics. The air wasn't as stifling, and the scent of actual plants and animals was a welcome change from the typical humid environment on Stacy. He noticed a herd of the fleth deer nearby, and after throwing a wistful glance their direction, he snorted. He bet they would taste delicious roasted over a fire.

Cassie wasn’t too shocked at the sight of Kang. She had seen a lot over the years and she had known better than to come to any conclusions by looks alone. She followed his gaze and saw the deer type creatures grazing. She looked back at him to make her presence known. “Hello.”

Kang nodded down at the young woman, "Ma'am. I haven't seen you around; you must be one of the newer people."

"Yeah, I just got here with the last group. Have you been here long?" She asked, looking at him as well.

Satori liked the hydroponics bay. It was painfully bright in there, but it felt more like a natural place than anywhere else on Stacy. Less alien meatwalls, actual animal life.

She was there today, too, with her alien puppy, who was gradually getting used to life on Stacy. However, in drastic contrast to Satori, Ayako was very energetic and curious, and perked up immediately when Cassie came somewhat nearby, bounding off (as well as one can bound on a host of tentacles) towards the new person she didn't recognize. Satori floated after her pet, glancing up at Cassie.

"I see you've found another new friend," said Satori, addressing Ayako before saying anything to Cassie.

Cassie squatted down in front of the odd dog looking thing. She gave it a smile. "Hello," she spoke to it before reaching out to pet it. It seemed friendly enough, and she had dealt with some pretty nasty tempered animals before, so she wasn't scared of it.

Hearing the words spoken she looked up at the speaker. She didn't recognize at first that she was still floating but Cassie stood up and smiled at her too. "Hello."

"You'll have to forgive her," said Satori, already probing into Cassie's mind out of habit. "She has a tendency to..."

The train of thought was derailed by a stray thought or memory she picked up somewhere. A certain person.

"...you're a friend of Marco's, aren't you."
