Vader was not impressed by the hangar.

Outwardly, he was unmoved, and inwardly he was floored, but he would not ever admit to being impressed by the rows of ships, many of which he'd never seen before. He walked down each row as impassively as though this were any normal Imperial muster, only pausing to examine something that caught his eye if he ( Read more... )

Luke had been on the way down to do a routine systems check on the Shadow to make sure she was still in good shape, but paused when he saw a familiar figure walking slowly through the rows of ships. He was happy, actually, to see his father up and about, instead of confining himself and being hateful to everyone. Not that being up and about stopped Vader from being hateful, but Luke figured that he'd be less inclined to be such a way if he wasn't stuck in one place.

"Hello," he called, peeking around the landing skids of a ship he didn't recognize. "It's just me, Luke."

He had not yet found a suitable ship, but he was pleased to see his son down here-- presumably doing the same thing he was.

"Luke," he said, warmly- as warmly as Darth Vader ever addresses anyone-- "have you found something that is not...useless?"

"Actually, I was just going down to check on Mara's ship. I think you'll like it--the Jade Shadow is a really nice ship." He grinned, mostly because the Shadow was really the family's ship, and there were a lot of happy memories associated with it. "Would you like to come with me?"

Jade.

Even the mention of her name was enough to take the wind out of Vader's sails.

"Is it more stolen Imperial property?" he asked, "or has she left behind everything the Emperor gave her?"

Oddly enough in among Dean's collection of music, there was Metallica. Playing the Imperial March. He found it as partly a joke to Sam, partly because it did sound pretty damn cool.

Just a coincidence it happened to be playing pretty loudly from the Impala's speakers as he checked over the weapons in the trunk to make sure they didn't take any damage either. And nope, no spies here, just another mechanic. Who's also a hunter.

Still he glanced up, and raised an eyebrow. Shit, Vader in the house. Huh.

Vader was hardly amused by the way the Empire's most patriotic anthem was being perverted, but before he could tell Dean as much he noticed the car.

"What is that? Why would anyone continue to keep such a primitive waste of scrap?" he asked, disgusted.

Uh oh.

OBITCHYOUDIDNOT

Was pretty much the look of absolute DEATH Dean was giving back right about now.

"Probably because she holds up helluva a lot longer than your piece of shit fighters."

[that icon. It's so perfect]

Vader drew himself up to full height and glared down at Dean before rapping his knuckles against the hood. There was an unpleasant clang of metal striking metal.

"I see no shielding. I would be more than willing to test your theory on the field of battle," he replied, stonily.

Don't look now, Vader, but there's a glimmering pink light weaving a magenta trail of light in the skies above. Nanoha has finally convinced Fate to let her out of bed, and what better way to celebrate than flying around the vast cavern under her own power?

Vader wasn't a child- as tempting as it sounded to duck beneath a ship and wait for the irritatingly familiar to pass, he chose to pretend to ignore her, all the while keeping her in the corner of his eye.

Sorry, Vader. Once she saw the very familiar black-cloaked figure moving on the floor below her, there was no way Nanoha wasn't going to swoop down in his direction - she paused in front of him, hovering a good foot or three off the floor, and favored the man with a smile. From this close, he could probably see that she still looked slightly banged up from the battle, though it had mostly healed (all but her arm, which was in a sling).

"It's good to see you out and about," the young woman smiled.

He was now regretting taking the high road.

"It is difficult to keep me from doing as I please," he said. It's not even thinly veiled, its just openly hostile and cranky.

"I thought I told you to have your leg replaced," Vader said crossly, folding his arms across his chest. "And you continue to...hobble in such a manner."

"Upright," Vader said, smugly. "I am searching for a ship that fits my requirements. Since there is nothing here that even passes for qualified, I will see how low I am willing to sink in order to be spaceworthy again."

Arha was working on her X-Wing, slowly and carefully. She stood with her fingers brushing a long dent and shivered for a moment before drawing on the Force long enough to pop the metal back into shape. It required a few more passes along the length of the dent, which was extensive, before the painted metal was whole again.

She let out a long breath, paused, and smiled. Not that Vader was anyone to smile for. She could feel him coming the whole length of the hangar.

"Do you see a ship you wish?" she asked, projecting her voice toward him, it came out a little tired, but it was better than it had been the previous day. Kyle was, once again, not going to be pleased she had found her way to the hangar. Again. It was better practice at lifting and using the Force than sitting around playing with pebbles.

"Hardly," Vader replied, shaking his head. "Thus far I have only seen rebel ships made by scavengers and held together with fervent prayers."

"I am sure there will be a ship that meets your requirements somewhere in this place. There are many of them from many places. I have bolted my stabilizer on much better now," Arha said, her voice serious. "I did not like the way it...fell off. Come, see if I have done this right? I do wonder if I can Force bond it, though. It was a thought that crossed my mind."

Vader may not have enjoyed Arha's presence, but his love of being right combined with skill in aviation technology drew him like a moth to a flame.

"It is not at the correct angle," Vader scowled, examining the piece closely. "Even a fraction of a degree can be fatal."
