Dean never liked hospitals. Bad things always went down in hospitals. Especially death. And he thought he remembered briefly seeing that reaper Tessa, or maybe it was just a delerious dream from his injuries. No matter, once again he skirted death, and is living. Again. Awesome

"Been slow to give 'em out to everybody," she assured him, sliding up next to his bed. "Just wait it out, shouldn't be too much longer."

"Yeah, hey, what happened, babe?" He reached out to her, trying to touch her cheek. "How bad they get you?"
Yes it really doesn't matter how he was at Death's door again when it's somebody else he cares about who's in trouble.

"It's nothin', just some bruisin'." And scraping. And burning. "Got knocked around a little, s'all." She moved up close enough that she could rest her cheek in his hand, bandaged fingers coming to rest over his, and sat on the edge of the bed. It was as close to him as she dared to get, for fear of hurting him at all.

"Looks more than just a little bruisin' Sunshine. You all right?" His thumb idly rubbed against her cheek.

"Just peachy, but the wardens aren't letting me out on parole yet," Dean scowled.

"You had me pretty worried as it was."

He got it under control, and then said, joking, "See? Totally under control, coach. Don't keep me on the sidelines."

"Hello, Dean," He greeted quietly, smiling at the man's impatient outburst, "Aren't you hurt?"
Reply
"Hey Haku, and I'm fine. But the Doc's not convinced yet."
Dean wasn't that fine yet, but he's always downplayed his injuries.

"I don't like it here, either. If you're strong enough to walk, I can make sure they don't see either of us leave."

She had a similar feeling when she was stuck in the Brig for a long time.
"Hey Dean," she greeted, and brought him a little box. "I made some pastries with the stuff I picked up on shore leave. The instructions weren't that hard, actually!"

He was pacing as much as he could from a hospital bed, but definitely on edge. Still he grinned a bit.
"Did I tell you lately how awesome you are? I mean first the firefighting skills with the water, and the healing, and now food?"

She put them by the hospital bed, but shook her head.
"I'm not awesome: I shouldn't have let you go further into the house without more protection. I thought Aeneas could handle it while I was gone, but I underestimated how farther in you'd go. For that...I'm sorry. I should have been concerned about what was happening in the house, and not the Ohm that was destroying another house and trying to set more on fire. I just thought if we didn't get to it in time, it would have killed more people. But I should have been focusing on you. That was my fault."
And she hung her head here. "I'm really glad you're doing better."

He sighed and sagged back, "Trust me, I'm not worth it. You did the right thing."

"Don't bust anything yelling," she advised. She had beer, too, from the fucking tree. Two of them. "If you want to get your ass up, get up and stop bitching about it." She had her own bruises, her lip was split, and her arm was in a...planty sling where it had been sliced by an Ohm just before she blew its head off.
"I'll punch a motherfucker, if you want," she said, eyebrows arched. "After the food's gone."
Reply
"Shit...this looks awesome." He struggled to get up, cursing the wheezing, and wavered on his feet. Dammit.

"Fuckhead, sit your ass down. I'm not gonna scrape beans out of your hair if you do a motherfucking swan dive in my Mexican goddamn dinner."

"I'm good, and thanks. Kickass food," he grinned as he scooped a large bite of the tomales with the cheese hanging down in greasy strings. He swallowed and washed it down with one of the beers, making happy moans over the food.
