"OW! That so totally hurts!" -- Charles Xavier

The battle against the Ohm raged on, and the casualties on the ground were mounting. Injured crew members got emergency treatment in the field, which largely amounted to patching them up so they wouldn't die sometime within the next fifteen minutes. After that, they were quickly picked up by shuttle and brought back to the ship, where they were ( Read more... )

Granted Dean was stuck getting a fireman's carry just because that was the only option at the time. Still it wasn't the best thing for the hunter as he laid once again, too injured and out to move in the back of his Impala earlier. As had been so for him so many times in the past and likely in the future.

Now he was barely breathing as the fractured lower ribs had shifted and punctured his left lung. There were several bruises, a broken left leg. Possible fractures elsewhere, and the guy still had a concussion. He woke briefly en route to medbay but promptly passed out again. Also some burns from the fire, and likely some smoke inhalation after he lost his rebreather.

Kyle stopped by Dean's bed on his way to see Arha. It looked like he'd been through a lot. Whatever it had been Kyle was sure he'd saved somebody. Fighting the good fight. He just wish it didn't cost so much sometimes. He stood there for a few minutes hands on the edge of the bed eyes down, completely quiet. "Hang in there Dean. I'll come see you again."

With that he stepped away to go check up on someone else important to him.

It was a cost he kept giving, time and again. To the point he wondered when everything was going to stop. And how tempting it was to let it. To let go. But there was always still a job to do, another hunt.

Somewhere locked in his mind, he thought he saw a dark haired girl smiling at him.

Tessa... not again.

But then as others worked on him, she just brushed a hand over his forehead, and gave a sad wave before fading.

It would still be some time before he started to stir, his brother's name on his lips.

It had been really, really unfortunate that the other Ohm had attacked during the fire, and even if it was something that she couldn't have stopped, Katara blamed herself for not staying in the first house. Even with the moon out, she couldn't be in two places at once, and she regretted that Dean had sustained some pretty vicious injuries. There was no way she wasn't going to wander over to Dean, after vehemently insisting she was only going to see den for a little while. The EMH had been curt with her, but happily was not immune to a concerned fourteen year old girl ( ... )

Arha was tucked away in a more private alcove where Luke and Mara had dropped her off. Safely cocooned in a Jedi healing trance thanks to Luke, she lie motionless and oblivious to the commotion going on around her. She was cooler than usual, her skin waxy-pale, and her presence in the Force was muted as she shut down to heal.

Her right eye was bloodshot, one of her ribs was cracked, her sternum was bruised along with much of her body--injuries mostly sustained from the crash--and she had a concussion to top it all off. With the aid of the Force and her Bene Gesserit skills, she was mending quickly. The frighteningly swollen eye had gone down some, which meant that if given sufficient motivation, she might have been able to crack it open.

Arha slept with near the stillness of the dead, her battle-weary body proven as a member of Rogue Squadron.

Vader scowled down at her prone body. Why was he even here? There was nothing he required, and he certainly had no plans to take a hold of Arha's hand until she was well.

"What good is your power if you are unable to heal yourself?" he snapped at her.

Kyle looked up, and scowled at Vader. Normally his emotions would be buried deep, controlled, but right now they were out in the open, and directed fulyl at Vader. "Go away. Now!"

Vader folded his arms and titled his helmet back. "I am repaying a favor she has granted me many times," he replied, with an unbearable aura of smugness.

In all the battles he'd ever fought, Kang had never dislocated a joint. The broken limbs hurt like hell, and the slashes and tears in the membranes of his wings stung, but that pain was nothing compared to what shot through him every single time he shifted his left shoulder. It was taking all of his willpower to not throw up every single time nausea rolled through him. Really, it was a wonder he was still conscious, with how weak he felt.

He was leaning on the wall, gingerly cradling his arm against his torso and cursing in a mix of languages. The humerus bone of his left wing was bent at an odd angle, obviously broken, and a bit of white bone was visible sticking out from the forearm on the same side; his scales and leather armor were also streaked with greenish blood.

Oh, dammit. His battle-axe had been left behind. Hopefully someone would retrieve it for him.

"Jesus, amigo," came a strained voice from behind Kang.

Luis already looked exhausted as he pulled on a pair of rubber gloves, but he knew the injured had not even begun to filter in, and he had to help take care of as many cases as he could. He wouldn't meddle in anything life-threatening (leave that to the real medics), but he was pretty versatile otherwise.

"Let's get you fixed up," he said, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Anything I need to know about your species? Please, be detailed."

"Cold-blooded," Kang hissed through gritted teeth, head thumping back against the wall. "Other than that, no."

"Okay. I can do that," he said a little distractedly, as he worked to fill a hypodermic needle with pain medication. There came a moment of hesitation as he tried to figure out how, exactly, he was going to go about this-- but he remembered his grad school days of experiments with lizards, and it couldn't be all that different. Between the scales and into a vein-- there would be a pinch, a cold sensation and a feeling of relief.

"We'll give it a minute before I go yanking your arm," Luis assured him, turning to the tray next to him to dig for bandages. "And I can rig up something to regulate your temperature. Sound okay?"

If anything, Vivio would be the poster child for the biggest contradiction ever. As she laid there, unconscious and injured, Vivio could be the example of why children shouldn't fight. At the same time, the fact that she willingly went out there to fight despite the dangers proved that the children can go out and fight.

Her grievous wound was the patched and stitched up spot on right her right just above where her right breast is, her arm pinned and braced to prevent movement. If she was in child form, it would have been much worse. Even so, the combination of Nanoha's rescue and Matt's Quintessence had been enough to keep things from getting worse.

Right now, Vivio sleeps a fitful sleep, Sacred Heart, little plushie that he is, watching over her.

There was a flash of light, like a squiggle of energy plunging downwards from somewhere next to her as Matt teletransported in next to her.

Picking up a medical scanner, he played it across her form and sighed. "Been watching out for her?" asked Matt of Sacred Heart.

There was a shine of perspiration and a weary expression on his face as he continued to work.

Sacred Heart looked up at Matt as he worked on Vivio. The little plushie nodded as it looked back down at Vivio. If it could speak, it would tell Matt how worried it was over the condition of its young master.

Matt patted Sacred Heart on the head, ruffling it's plush ears. "Don't worry, she's a strong kid. And her mom's raised her right."

He smiled as he murmured another soft healing spell on the fly and warm pink light played across her body. "That should help for now," said Matt, having focused his attention to her shoulder.

Sitting down next to her, he bit his lip. "I did all I can. Is it enough you think?"

Negi rested fitfully against the bed, sighing. He had done his part and yet it didn't feel like enough. But so far, people who he cared for was safe, and he was laying with bandages across his chest and an IV was sitting next to him, feeding him drugs to keep his internal injuries from worsening.

Nanashi managed to stumble into the medbay, looking rather exceptionally pale. For her, this was saying something. She knew she had to drink before she ended up passing out and turning on an ally.

Nanashi dragged herself over to where Sam was keeping the animal blood he had brought out earlier and bit into one bag, taking another bag with her to go sit on the nearest bed.

That bed happened to be Negi's, but she was far too consumed with draining the bag of every drop of blood to realize this.

"Hiya," said Negi as Nanashi sat down next to him. Was that a blood pack? It was. Huh. Was it his lot in life to be surrounded by vampire women?

"Blood any good?" he inquired casually.

Nanashi's eyes snapped up, though the rest of her remained frozen in place. The look in her eyes was fierce. It was not usually a good idea to interrupt her while she was feeding. Instincts told her to destroy the danger, but she ignored it. She instead relaxed and finished the blood packet.

A bit of colour had returned to her as she finished draining the blood. After she finished the blood she said quietly, "It's better than that slop on the ship."

It was better, but not fantastic. It was nothing compared to human blood, even if it nourished her. "Animal blood is actually unprocessable by many in my world. I am lucky." It wasn't the first time this difference had come in rather useful.
