Shore Leave Part 2: THE SHORELEAVENING

Jun 12, 2010 01:07

Eventually, the Obs Deck made its way through the planet's atmosphere. There was a notable lurch, and then gravity returned to the Obs Deck.

Several minutes pass, and there was a loud thoom as Obs Deck landed. A large section of wall opens up to become a wide access ramp, revealing the bright, blue sky.

As the crew stepped out of the Obs Deck, they ( Read more... )

"Booking?" Tycho questioned. "Places to stay?"

"You've never heard of a hotel?" Tsukasa asked, before mounting his Machine Decader.

Tycho's face remained impassive, not so much as flickering at the kid's rudeness. "There are various types of accommodations that could have been arranged for us," he said mildly. "I was merely wondering about the specifics. Perhaps I did not word my question well enough for my meaning to be clear. My mistake."

The response was completely polite, and classic Tycho.

"Remember this," Tsukasa said, pointing a finger toward the Path of Heaven skyward. "Always speak clearly so people will understand. This way, you won't have to correct yourself."

Axl made a face at the mention of weapons. "Ugh. Guess no weapons makes sense for a resort, but I still feel kinda naked without 'em."

At least he still had his copy chip to fall back on.

"I'm very sorry for the inconvenience," the attendant says. "It's merely to ensure the safety of all our guests."

"Not a big deal. I get the feeling this place isn't nearly as crazy as home, anyway." (Or at least if it's crazy, it's completely in the 'drunken revelry' kind of way and not the 'Maverick attacks, must be Thursday' kind of way.)

Axl shrugs, but then adds, "Actually, now that I'm thinking about it. Are you guys used to catering to mechanicals, and not just organic life? There's a couple things I wanna stock up on."

"Oh, we get plenty of non-organics! Both techno-organics and pure machines are equally catered here on Zokez II!"

...dear god, she was like a walking brochure.

Indigo glances around, scanners taking everything in before she questions Kyzket. "I desire watercolor paints and dance clubs. Could you please indicate the locations where I could discover them on a map?"

"Ah, you'd want the shopping and entertainment districts, respectively. I've made sure to patch your communicators in to the local network, so you can search for them easily."

"Thank you." She smiles, a warm one rather than the strict politeness in her tone.

The booking thing was easy enough to understand. People with enough status on Krynn could reserve a room at an inn if they so desired, but it rarely happened except for in bigger cities like Palanthas.

"Not even a dagger?" Kang asked, uncomfortable with the no weapons thing. Even if he didn't intend on using one while on the planet (which, from what he could see of it already, was amazing), he just felt... better with one on his person. Old habits die hard.

"I'm very sorry for the convenience!" she says earnestly. "I hope you'll understand. It's for the safety of all our guests. If it makes you feel better, we do have the best security in the entire sector."

"I don't like it, but I'll follow the rules," Kang's wings rustled.

"Where would I find local clothing shops?"

If she was going to be here, and with money no less, she wsanted to know exactly where she could get something new to wear. It was one of the few luxuries she knew she'd have.

Sokka piped up from behind Katara.

"Where can we get meat? Like, real meat? Honest-to-goodness, cooked on a spit and dripping with deliciousness meat?" His mouth is already watering at the thought of something that isn't mush.

Katara nodded enthusiastically. Normally she didn't share her brother's affection for meat, but considering the lack of real tangible food, she was all for finding some real food.

"There HAS to be fish here, right?"

theregularguy June 12 2010, 13:31:33 UTC
"Oooh, fresh fish. We need some of that too. And clams, definitely clams. We pretty much need to eat some of everything." Sokka didn't know about anyone else, but he was going to stuff himself until he couldn't raise food to mouth.

"And I'd say it was a crime if this place didn't have fish--I can smell the ocean!" Sokka's face broke into a wide grin as he took in a deep breath. The familiar smell of salt-water. He'd never thought he'd actually experience it again.
