As usual Tycho had arrived at the designated meeting place at the debriefing room in Rogue Squadron's headquarters a little ahead of time. There was nothing for him to prepare really, but he'd called the meeting, so it was still good for him to be there first ( Read more... )

THE REST OF THE ARRIVALS GO HERE sonofalderaan June 3 2010, 05:27:25 UTC
Tycho looked up, nodding to the last of the arrivals as they filtered into the room and took their seats.

Winter slipped in. She'd never made a habit of being late to these things, but it had taken her a little longer than she'd hoped to get here. If she was annoyed, she didn't show it.

Her white hair was braided now - she'd cut it, but not as short as in her field agent days.

She wasn't late exactly, it was just that most of the other people had already arrived. Tycho flashed her a small smile, glad that she was here.

She took position besides him and murmured, "Hello, love."

"There's something about the Grand Admiral that - happened after your time, which we'll want to address."

[She'll want to put out the possibility that this isn't really Thrawn at some point.]

SRS BZNS STUFF BEGINS~ sonofalderaan June 3 2010, 05:45:24 UTC
Glancing around the room, Tycho saw that everyone was here. Since it was technically his meeting, he might as well do this. Clearing his throat to draw everyone's attention, he stood.

"I'd like to thank everyone for coming so promptly," he said. He flashed a brief smile, but his face and voice quickly turned grave. "We've had a couple ... issues come up with the new arrivals this podpop, which I think it's pretty clear we as a group need to address before we take it to the rest of the ship. After all these are problems that come from our universe, and we're in a unique position to deal with them ( ... )

"I don't have much to add, except perhaps for a difference of opinion. Like Tycho, I agree that Thrawn is dangerous. However, during my discussion with him I think that we agreed on something. That the Ohm are a greater danger and of greater importance than any differences we may have as Imperials and Rebels. I think we can trust him to put them before any plots he may or may not have against us. He's not stupid." Wedge paused and flipped through another page of notes.

"It's not in his interest to betray us. It's that simple. We don't have to get him on our side for this because he already is. Vader is another matter. He is vindictive enough and dangerous enough that we may need to do something about him. Get security to lock him up, maybe. There are other options, of course." Murder, for one. Not that he looked on killing Vader as murder. More like justice long overdue.

Luke spoke up. "Vader is currently without his suit, disoriented, and in a weakened state," he said, slipping into the firm voice of a leader that he'd learned to use as Grandmaster. "When he inevitably regains that strength he'll be much more of a threat and then... yes, it might be a good idea to make sure he can't hurt the rest of the crew somehow." Luke took a deep breath. "But until that time I'll continue to talk to him." Luke smiled a bit. "I know that's not much of a solution, but some of us here know what happened on the second Death Star. I know there is still good in him."

He quieted, thinking of how their conversation had gone.

I have no son.

A stab of pain went through him, but he quickly let calm cover it. There wasn't any place for that right now.

Winter put both hands in front of her on the table and laced her fingers together. She knew that it would not be long before someone would question Luke's ability to keep Vader civilized, so she did not. If she had a specific concern, she would bring it up.

For now, she had something else to address. "I have a concern involving Grand Admiral Thrawn. Those who were - around for the Bastion Accords, signed ten years after his reported death at Bilbringi, should also remember the Caamaasi Document Crisis."

Winter paused for a moment. She'd spent some time paring down her initial thought, shortening it to what she hoped was the essentials. "The only relevant part of this is that, after the leader of the Imperial Remnant started moving for peace, dissidents crafted a ploy to make it appear as if Thrawn had returned from the dead. A con man, working with an experimental clone, was able to impersonate him very successfully."

She paused again. This next part was very confidential, and not everyone here was cleared to know - Tycho ( ... )
