Just for show

Char has only one focus in mind when he reaches the hangar - well, technically, two.

Sure enough, there stands his Sazabi, looking to be completely undamaged from its fight with the Nu Gundam standing next to it, despite Char having a rather vivid memory of it being nearly totaled no more than a day ago, tops. Pleased as ever, Char mounts the ( Read more... )

With all the new arrivals, Kira isn't surprised to see more Mobile Suits in the cavernous hangar beyond his Freedom and Strike Freedom. He recognizes most of them: Cagalli's Akatsuki, Athrun's Infinite Justice, Shinn's Destiny, a GOUF...

...but a shout echoing through the hangar catches his attention, and Kira notices something very odd. While the giant mecha resembles some ZAFT designs, this mobile suit isn't like anything he's ever seen before - nor are the logos and insignias it bears.

The young pilot finds himself walking closer, inspecting it and wondering if whoever shouted is there. "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine - I just had a bit of a surprise."

Char's looking around his cockpit (head-mounted, for the record, so he's quite a bit up there), throwing a few breakers to eliminate the psychic feedback. "I didn't take into account that a huge creature like Stacy would have a huge mind!" he calls down. "This Sazabi's one big psychic amplifier, so getting in was like a flash grenade for my brain. Hopefully I can get used to it..."

Kira blinked for a moment, pausing in his tracks. Psychic amplifier? Really?

"I've never heard of a Mobile Suit that could do something like that before," he called up.

"Newtype-use MSes are practically common where I come from...but it seems there's more than one world with mobile suits here, since I don't recognize any of these Gundams but one," Char comments in return.

The few gentle blips and bloops from a white GOUF in the hangar was all that could be heard nearby. Surprising to some, maybe, considering Yzak was often a source of noise himself. He had been checking over his unit since discovering it was there, relieved that he had some way of fighting. He was just about finished when he heard Char's yell nearby. Pausing, he leans out of his mobile suit's cockpit and looks over to the unfamiliar Sazabi.

"Hey. What was that all about?!"

"It was just kind of a..." Char interrupts himself to double-take at the nearby mobile suit. "Is that a Gouf? I haven't seen one of those in years."

"You say years like less than two is a long time," he replied, a tinge of pride in his voice. He used to pilot a G-unit, considered the ultimate type of mobile suit for its time. From there he moved on to a ZAKU. His current GOUF out-performed both of those units.

"Perhaps we came here from different times, somehow - the One Year War was about 14 years ago for me, and I've never seen anyone deploy a Gouf since then."

Then again, according to Sazabi's mobile suit database...this thing looked like a Gouf, and would clearly pass for one if viewed from a distance or under heavy Minovsky particle density, but with a clear view, his MS's sensors were giving him "Unknown Model".

Cagalli was visiting the hangar on mention from Kira that there might be something promising there. Having already found (and spent a good amount of time staring at) the Akatsuki, she figured more of a look around wouldn't hurt. When she heard the yell, she stopped and looked up for the source of the noise.

"Hey! Are you alright?" she called up, sounding slightly concerned.

"No problems, just surprised," Char calls down. "There should be a warning label for psychics on this girl!"

That made her pause, and all her concern went away in favor of confusion.

"Psychics?"

"Well, the scientific term is 'Newtype'," he explains, "but since there are people from different worlds here, I figured I should be more general."

Char pauses, trying to explain. "Pretend you can feel the presence of other minds. Now consider that this whole ship is a living being with its own mind. Opening my mind here is like expecting a room full of candles, then staring directly into the sun instead."

Amuro approaches the hanger- and his stomach lurches at what he sees. Not only is the Sazabi intact, but it's active- right next to Nu. Before he even has a chance to think he's on his heels and flying at top speed towards the deck.

"Char!!!! Just what do you think you're doing!?"

Char says nothing, but smiles and closes his cockpit up, getting the Sazabi ready to move...but not going anywhere yet. He also leaves his psycommu transceiver off for obvious reasons, and simply waits for Amuro to connect to his own psychoframe...

Char was goading him- Did he plan to restart their fight here, too? So be it! Amuro was ready for it, and he wasn't going to let Char win. Not here, not anywhere.

As quickly as his legs could carry him onto the catwalk he was there, hopping a guard rail to climb directly into the cockpit of Nu. Despite what damage it had received in the battle above Axis, it was still intact- No, it was completely restored. Had they fixed it? Now wasn't the time to think about that, though- He activated the suit, and...

Pressure. Sudden overwhelming pressure. His head was splitting, and it was hard to reach the controls... What was going on here!?

"Biggest mind you've ever felt, isn't it Amuro?" Char asks, his voice serious rather than taunting. "It didn't really register for me until I felt it myself...but we're in a completely different place now."

Char stares at the console as his thoughts pour out with barely any time for him to form them into sentences. "Earth is gone. The colonies are gone. Everyone I was trying to save - everyone you were trying to save - is gone. Even the ghost of Lalah who's been haunting me for the last 15 years...assuming she even existed outside my mind."

Lelouch, having collected those from his world for which this would be relevant, lead the way down into the hangar. It was truly a sight to behold. Ships and mobile suits and fighters from all ages, eras, and universes stretched on seemingly limitlessly.

Finding an aisle, he lead the way down it. How was he supposed to find Shinkirou, Lancelot Frontier, and Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. in all of this? But then Char's shout caught his attention, and he headed in the direction of the echo.

"Captain?" he asked. The massive vehicle was easily five times as large as a Knightmare, and there was no way that could fit into the hangar of the Avalon.

After taking a moment to take this in, he started in closer. "Captain Aznable?"

((Aaaaah, so much spec failure.))

"If I'd known the hangar was going to be so crowded," Char replies, rubbing his head and descending the side of Sazabi (how does he do both? Carefully), "I'd have been more careful instead of embarrassing myself like that."

C.C. strolls after the boy, carrying Cheese-kun in front of her. Having stopped back by the possessions lockers, she's also now carrying the pink key for the Lancelot Frontier.

A bit alert at the yelling about "pressure" and now the emergence of the source of the voice, she turns to Lelouch and comments, "New friend of yours?"

Kallen, meanwhile, was openly staring at the wide variety of machines that the hangar held. That the Guren was there was one thing - it had been a little surprising to learn that the ship had picked it up, but she'd been piloting it at the time. These, on the other hand...

"There weren't any frames like these back home..."
