Emo Hole - Population 1 [Open]

The pounding of fists in the Sensorium reverberated as the noise of shockwaves echoing from each the punches could be heard as a young boy barely of the age of 10 continued to wallop on the punching bag. Normally Negi would have selected a live opponent, such as Ku Fei or perhaps a Fate-Shaped Punching bag, but all he had right now was a simple ( Read more... )

Tsukasa was walking outside the Sensorium, when he heard beating noises. Someone was pissed at something. He ducked in to see what was going on, and he saw Negi murdering a punching bag. That's got to be illegal he thought, entering to see what was going on.

Closing to within earshot, he asked, "Negi, you okay, kid?"

Thud thud thudthudthudhthudthudthudthud--!

The bag atomized.

"No I'm not..." said Negi, his arm still outstretched in a punch as smoke curled around it.

Tsukasa blinked. Wow...he's got some rage issues.

"Care to share? Talking it out has got to be better than murdering sacks of stuffing and cloth." He cocked his head toward the ashes, remnants of the punching bag.

Negi's fist continued to smoke as he brought it up to look at it. "I saw my world die, Tsukasa-san... right in front of my fingertips. I saw everything, if only the world of the Magic World. I never even got to see Earth end."

It seemed like every time Tenaya found her way to the Sensoriums, someone was in there beating the crap out of something.

She hung back as she watched Negi attack another punching bag, half-wondering what the story was this time.

Negi barely registered her presence as his punches turned to kicks and with a mighty cry, put his foot through it. He was breathing hard as he trembled there before withdrawing his leg, sinking to the ground, head hung.

"Can't do this anymore, can't, can't..."

"Then why keep going?" Tenaya asked bluntly.

Maybe it wasn't the best way to make friends, but to be honest, she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to put up with the angst about the destroyed worlds.

Granted, not everyone had already lived through the end of the world and played a part in ensuring that it would stay ended...

Negi looked up angrily at Tenaya. "Because if I don't stop, who knows what'll happen next?"

He was pretty much going around in circles, but Negi wasn't in the state of mind to really focus on that at all.

With everyone getting their memories back, Sasami felt that she was glad she opted not to. She probably couldn't handle that sort of thing. Out of a bit of boredom, Sasami opted to head into one of the sensoriums to see if she could practice a bit more of the magic Chamo had been teaching her...

...only to find Negi pounding away at a punching bag, obliterating it like it was Ryoko doing it instead. That was worrisome right there. "N-Negi! What are you doing?!"

"I'm murdering bags," replied Negi shortly. "Hoping that the next one's an Ohm."

Another bag materialized once more and Negi immediately put his fist through it.

Oh, that's not good. Not good at all. He had to stop or he was going to drain himself.

"Negi, stop!" Sasami cried out, racing over to him. "You're going to hurt yourself this way!"

"I don't care! I don't deserve to be here!" Negi roared and for an instant, darkness burned off him as his hair flashed violet and his skin turned a deep dark angry brown-red.

The bag ceased to exist in a hail of dark flame.

Evangeline watched; to her the magic he used was unmistakable and no accident was required for her to find him. Part of her still couldn't believe he bore the mark of her art... and part of her thrilled at it. A guilty pleasure indeed, even for someone as shameless as her, to know she had, even by accident, brought him so far from the path of his father. But there it was.

"Was seeing it too much for you, boy?"

Negi immediately had to hold his tongue, but the dark expression on his face spoke words. Instead, he exhaled sharply. "Everything's gone. Killed. Even complete erasure wasn't enough for them."

"So it goes." It would sound impossibly cold to a child, she knew, but it was the truth. No more or less had been consumed in that fire than the wars of Earth would one day claim if they had continued for long enough. It was only that she had seen a great length of those wars, and he had not, and that made a difference between them that was not easily taught like the magic or tactics or even the sense of responsible amorality she'd worked to instill in him.

"But you don't want to think about it, do you?" She looked at the place where the bag had been.

"Not as much Master," said Negi as the atomized bag swept itself up with a magic broom that seemed to be muttering, a random conjuring from his mind in the sensoriums.

He exhaled and looked at her. "You don't really miss Mahora, do you master? Or the others? Yue-san's here though but she barely remembers anything."

Katara had been worried about Negi after seeing her own world go: she knew that as sweet as he was, he was also the type to investigate and find out what happened. In those last moments, what could he have been thinking, after seeing his world destroyed by the Ohm, much like his village with the demons? Katara had wasted little time, and had charged into the Sensoriums to find him. She wasn't about to let him suffer alone ( ... )

"Neechan..." Allowing Katara to dab his face, he nodded. "I saw it. And it was worse than I ever imagined. I expected some kind of resistance but... it was worse than I believed it could ever be."

The bag rematerialized after he put his fist through another. "Why me? I'm not strong enough or good enough... I can't save my own class let alone a whole universe."

"Of course you are," Katara said, bringing the water gently to his lips, "Or you wouldn't be here. But you were right: it was pretty awful. I saw it all too. It was as if I heard the land screaming out all at once, and the spirits of my world crying in grief. It was horrible."

She shook her head. "But this is exactly what they want, Negi. They want us scared. What we saw...that was the Daligig's warning. We can't afford to think lightly. That includes allowing us to fall into despair."

She gave him a hug. "Tell me about what you saw. It might make you fee better."

"I... saw..." Negi trembled for a moment. "It was more frightening than seeing blood or death. Everyone, erased before my eyes. It was beautiful and horrible and frightening at the same time... I'm just overwhelmed."

"The way the Great Paru-sama fell apart, the people vanishing, all of it. Gone."
