You've Got a Lot to Learn [Open]

In the short weeks she'd spent mourning the loss of her world and keeping her own counsel as to the unique opportunity it'd given her with its destruction (she was, if anything, opportunistic), Celes had felt she was finally ready to step out of her bubble and learn more about the denizens of the ship. Not everything could be gleaned from quietly ( Read more... )

The dark, stiff suit of metals and flexible polymers Celes passed probably did growl at her, for the scruffy man probing about the inside usually made such unpleasant noises whenever he ran into a technical problem such as this.

Dustin’s first field test of this space-age outfit went surprisingly well, considering the circumstances in which it was used. Said encounter also left the intricately placed internal circuitry in disarray-not only of the suit, but also of the wearer-and thus he was working to get it all back in order, reinforcing the back plating and binding so that this wouldn’t happen again. Because really, this was a pain, and Dustin was not enjoying himself in this tiny, open-backed coffin, hands permanently pressed against his nose as he fished around an open control panel within ( ... )

The suit, and its rider, turned to Dustin. Old and archaic as it seemed to be, the red glow from the eyes of the creature and the overall displeased glare of the young woman spoke volumes. "Idiot - if it sits too long than it will cease working entirely. Surely you understand the importance of keeping machinery working if you're down here tinkering with," Celes waved dismissively at Dustin, and whatever it was he was working on, "that."

The suit hissed again, and Celes smiled before turning away and clanking down the walk way. There was a bit to envy about a magitek armor rider, really, but at the end of the day, the young general knew she'd rather be battle with another human opponent than a device.

And Dustin glowered right back, this time making the effort to completely remove himself from his work so that he could stand at full height-if you want to call 5’7’’ an intimidating comparison to a woman in a battle mecha, but you get the idea.

“Heh!” he scoffed loudly with infinite contempt, arm and prosthetic folded tightly to his chest, clutching in each hand a bundle of wires and a double-sided screwdriver, “I’m surprised that heap of crap is working at all, let alone mobile. I wouldn’t waste my time-even trying to-“

She was walking off. “-Hey! Come back here, I’m not finished with you!-“

Dustin fidgeted in place, biting his lower lip, temporarily flustered out of coherent thought or action. How dare she walk away! Nobody walked away from Dustin Silver without him getting the last word in! That was his job ( ... )

What a strange, silly little man he was. Celes sat back in her seat and crossed her arms. "Really? I'll have you know, sir, that if something isn't moved, it rusts out and is useless. I'll not have any piece of equipment from my world be cast aside because it is not to you level of understanding. Which strikes me as being somewhat low. Good day, sir."

She put her hands back on the controls and continued to clonk it along at its steady pace, slowly increasing the speed until it was an outright run.
