TV, Junk Food and Sumos [Bendytimed to after Pod Pop]

Mar 30, 2010 22:24

The sound of manly grunting, yells and otherwise loud shouts from a large screen could be heard as accompanied by the sound of crunching and the noise of a drink being emptied with a few slurps. In a far corner of the Media Library, there was a area that was termed "Ben's Corner" which was a rather elaborate set up. A futon rolled out on a table ( Read more... )

"Ooh, nice one, man." Static said, walking over. He'd been having issues lately, something nagging at him, and he'd finally figured it out about an hour ago; he never got to see the movie they made out of one of his favorite shows, Lightning Bug. It was supposed to end the series, but first there had been the whole Club thing, then the titans.. he never saw it. So he was hoping the media library might have it.

"What'cha watching?"

"Sumo Slammers Classic," replied Ben, taking a handful of popcorn and munching it down. "The first series that I saw when I was ten or so. I'm still a big fan and it's been running ever since."

Offering the popcorn to him, he added, "There's two more series, Hero Generation and a season I discovered called Evolutions."

"Sweet deal. Mind if I join you? I could use some mindless animationy goodness." He said, taking handful of popcorn.

"Not at all. Grab a chair and some popcorn." Ben clicked the remote, turning it up a little.

"I'm about a quarter through the first season. Still building though."

"Ishikawa, your trumph over Kojiro in the Star Ring has propelled you to new heights. Are you willing to challenge the top tiers?" inquired a young blond reporter.

"Well, I believe it will be an enlightening experience," replied Ishikawa, toweling off. "In fact I..."

Just then his bag beeped and he snapped his fingers. "Excuse me Minako, I have business to attend to."

Leaving the reporters, Ishikawa pulled out a small blue circle from the bag and squeezed it. The sides slid out and the top flipped open to reveal a map with a blinking light. "Kenko..."

Spinning the object, it shifted into a belt and he slashed a card into it. "Blue Card Slash!"

In a blast of light, Ishikawa was clad in armor before he vanished in a streak of light.

"High sugars at this time of night? Aren't you supposed to be in bed, getting some sleep?" Nura is leaning in the doorway, smiling a playfully innocent smile. The glow of the television brings out the blue blue in her eyes. She cocks her head to the side, arching a white eyebrow archly. "Or does your watch make you half nocturnal as well, Ben?"

"I'm mostly nocturnal," replied Ben as he crunched another handful of popcorn and swallowed. "Fighting aliens you don't clockwatch unless mom and dad is insistent on me getting to bed for a game or paper due or something. They're good with me saving the world, but they freak over the weirdest things. Like if say I dyed my hair white."

"Pull up a chair. I'm watching Sumo Slammers."

Nura giggles playfully at Ben's rapport and sweeps her long, wavy white hair off of her shoulders. She really needs to get it cut sometime soon before she forgets. "Really? Your parents must be pretty relaxed to let their teenage son defend the planet past his curfew." Her parents certainly didn't.

"Don't mind if I do," she coolly says, picking a beanbag chair from the wall and dropping it down with a plop next to the couch. She dropped down into it, settling. When she was settled, she leaned back into the beanbag and turned her attention to the television.

"So...this is what you would watch in your dimension?"

"They're pretty progressive, open minded. Your history books would call them hippies." He shrugged. "That's how I learned wheatgrass is actually good for you."

"Yeah it is. It's been running for nearly five years now and I started watching it when I was a kid. There's another season out, but that's set, and was released, five years after the original series came out. The main hero is Ishikawa, the sumo on the left."

Scout managed to smell his way here. He was inexplicably attracted to junk food. Over the couch came a hand, digging its way into the bowl and then promptly shoving as many chips as possible into its owner's mouth.

With a mouth full of food, Scout offered a "Yo," managing to spray some crumbs out with his greeting.

"Hey," said Ben in greeting. "Come to watch a little Sumo Slammers or eat?"

On the screen, the pair of sumo impacted again in a thunderous explosion.

((OOC: I have been all over the place losing track of things so I am super sorry for taking forever to tag back eee x_x))

"No idea what Sumo Slammers is," Scout put one hand on the couch and vaulted himself into a seat next to Ben, "But I ain't one t'pass up real food in this place, ya'know?"

"Television show, one of the most popular and top ranked ones," replied Ben as he handed Scout the bowl to snack on. "And yeah I hear you. After the slop all the time, I'm always raiding someone's fridge, the rare few ones I find in this place."

(ooc: no prob!)

And in the midst of Ben's marathon was the distinct sound of someone whistling--"The Farmer in the Dell," to be exact.

Having found the weapons locker and retrieved her blaster (downmorphed into her hand for easy transformation), Tenaya had decided to explore the ship when she heard the unmistakable sounds of fantasy violence. Still whistling, she stepped inside the library to see Ben.

"So, this is what heroes of the universe do in their off hours?" she asked.

She was also missing a hand.

"It is if we don't want to go completely crazy," replied Ben, looking up at Tenaya. "I watch TV, Gwen studies or reads, Kevin works on his car."

He then noticed her stump of a hand and raised an eyebrow. "You're um, missing something."

"Guess some things are the same everywhere," she answered. It sounded pretty similar to the Rangers' downtime in the Garage. She was going to have to check the city to see if maybe it was still around.

Looking down at her hand-less wrist, she shrugged. "It'll find its way back. Running recon."

"Too much heroing'll drive anyone insane," admitted Ben. "Even me. But then I've always been a little reckless."

"... so you have a removable hand? That's actually pretty damn cool." He then flashbacked to the whole handless Ben incident. "And just a little ironic, considering the same thing happened to me once."
