Someday, Steve vowed, he would come out of a major crisis without needing to be thrown in isolation afterwards. That was his next goal. But the moment he and Miku dragged each other to medical after things had quieted down and the doctors in the know saw him with open wounds, he'd been shoved off and thrown in contagion containment within minutes

It wasn't her area of expertise, but she could at least keep the man company for a little while.

"I'm okay," he said, brushing that hair away and feigning a neutral look. "Bored. But I feel better and all."

"Uh," he hesitated for a moment, "It's... it's not anything really important. You should ask Dr. Sera."

Uncle McNinja has come to visit Steve, and he has brought him some thoroughly disinfected books on electronic chips so that he won't be too terribly bored in Quarantine.
He drops from the ceiling with a smile, lab coat flapping a little as he lands. There might be a paper mask over his regular mask, but don't mind that.
"Hey there, how're you holding up?"

"Holy shit!" he yelped out reflexively-- then he stared in wonderment at McNinja for a moment before finally relaxing.
"I'm... I'm okay," he said. "... are you supposed to be in here?"

He held out the little data chips for the omnicom.
"I brought you some books."

He took the data chips and looked at them in his hand for a moment, then glanced back up at McNinja and had trouble hiding the awkward smile on his face. "Thanks," he said. "That was... really, really nice of you."

So this is why Billy is running into the area like his own head was on fire, looking for Steve. When he sees him, nearly perfectly healthy (minus the bandages), he falls to the ground and glares at the boy in the bubble. Just glares.

"Uh... hey, Billy," he said. "Are you okay?"

He kept telling himself that, anyway, to keep from getting too annoyed at the situation. "What did you think happened?"

Sure, she felt a little off, and a bit stiff and sore even after resting, but Miku was bent on seeing Steve again. Just to confirm that he really was going to be okay with her own two eyes. She tapped on the bubble and smiled, "Hi."

"Hi," he said back, waving with a few fingers. He stared stupidly at her for a moment and then stepped up closer to the bubble so they could at least pretend this was a normal conversation. Steve and Miku did a lot of pretending to be normal, he was starting to notice. "Are you okay?"

There was an urn, somewhere, with ashes that were just spinning inside it, she was certain. "What about you? You'll be coming out soon, right?" Miku sounded hopeful, if a little concerned. God help him if he said no.

"I hope so," Steve said. "They said everything's stable, just... higher than normal. As soon as the wounds close up Dr. Sera said he'd let me out."

"Hey, Steve."

"Claire! You're okay!" He stood up and rushed over towards the bubble, grinning awkwardly. "God, everything went to hell-- I was really worried about you. Are you okay?"
Reply
"I'm fine. You really didn't need to worry." And she was, really. A little banged around, a few band aids stuck to her in places where she'd gotten nicked by flying debris or scratched by something that had gotten too close, but nothing major. Beyond, of course, the large bandage still wrapped around the mess of an injury the dream of her brother had made on her forearm shortly before everything had literally gone to hell. She couldn't remember if Steve had seen that, or not.
"You, on the other hand..." She tilted her head, stepping a little closer to the bubble. "How're you doing?"
Reply
"I'm okay, really!" he said. "This happened before, earlier this week, and then after they got me out of the nightmare it, uh... got worse." He stepped up close to the bubble and carefully unwrapped the bandage on his arm, lowering it down so she could see what was left of the ugly rash. It was scabbing over, still greenish in color and looked inflamed and tender, but it was vastly better than it had been right in the thick of things and it had stopped bleeding.
"It's just new. And really gross. So they were afraid of what I was gonna do."
