Along approaches a man holding a certain star-spangled shield that may be familiar to a few people there. Unfortunately, the hero who usually wields that shield isn't the one who is holding it.

Leon S. Kennedy, the Chief of Security, has it. For now, anyway.

He noticed that he and the people he met up with along the way weren't the first to arrive. And likely wouldn't be the last. At the least, everyone could take a brief moment to rest, regroup, and forge ahead for the final confrontation to the Nightmare King.

He rolled his eyes, but couldn't help the grin regardless. "I think I'll skip on that part. Besides, if I'm about to dive into a battle, I'd rather be in kevlar than spandex."

Claire grinned back, tilting her head to the side.

"I dunno, the way all this nightmare crap works, spandex may very well be just as protective as kevlar."

"Well, if you want to run around in skin tight spandex, I won't stop you." He'd definitely enjoy the sight.

She actually laughed at that, shaking her head a little at the idea.

"I'm not really sure if me running around in spandex would be helpful in this situation." She couldn't really say she'd never run around in spandex, because really, that had kind of been what she'd worn in Raccoon City, under her jean shorts. "I have a feeling I'd get in trouble for being distracting."

Yes, he remembers that outfit well.

"Probably. Of course, if you did, that would mean that when this is all over, you'd have to spend a lot of time with the Chief of Security."

"Oh, really," she smirked, reaching up so she could idly smooth her fingers over his shoulder, glancing away from his face to track the movement. "That doesn't really sound like a punishment to me."

He leaned his head forward a little to speak quietly into her ear, "And what if there was spanking involved?"

This was really the wrong time and wrong place to be having this conversation, but he didn't care at the moment. At all.

Claire had to bite down on her lip to keep from laughing, a wide smile spreading across her face despite her better attempts to contain it. It was probably inappropriate with everyone else sobering up and preparing to fight, but she didn't much care, either. She'd never really been a fan of facing down terror with absolutely no humor, anyway.

After a second she tilted her head a little so she could look at Leon out of the corner of her eye, smirked and keeping her voice low replied, "I could be down with that."

Lafiel was right behind him, as agitated as an insecure child. She was still shaken up from what happened on the bridge, having felt herself hijacked like that.

"Sir, what are those?"

"Hm? What are what?" he asked, unsure of what she was referring to.

'Your hair', Lafiel would have said if she had more of a sense of humor, Officer Pageboy.

"The shields."

Leon glanced down at the shield, then shrugged.

"I picked it up in Wanda's dream." He paused for a moment, then continued. "The symbols painted on it are a homage to the flag of my home nation," he explained further.
