She is Kirie.

Or perhaps, to be more clear, she and Kirie have become the same. Instead of being in technicolor, the world around Miku is in monochrome and static. The cold stone slab under Miku's back is stained black with the blood of former maidens.

Remember your duty. Yuri tells her, dressed in shinto priest's robes. It would be cute, if the dead look in her eyes wasn't so frightening. There are ropes around her neck, her wrists, her ankles, coarse and rubbing against sensitive skin. The air is filled with the out-of-sync chanting of the priests as they prepare to start pulling Miku apart.

"No... no, please, no... no..." Miku whimpers. "It's not my duty..! It isn't!" They have the wrong girl! Can't they see that? Can't they?

Remember your duty. Steve's voice tells her from behind a grotesque oni mask, and he begins to push the pillar, tightening the rope around her neck, even as Miku pulls against them. The chanting begins again, and the ropes creak as they pull ( ... )

The rope around her neck goes slack with a snap. Probably has something to do with the katana that just cut through it. The Doc leans over her - looking pretty ragged and blood-stained himself, but he gives her an encouraging smile.

"Hey there, I'm thinking this whole tearing you to bits thing is something to be avoided. Up for a daring escape?"

She made a little, choking gasp, trying to catch her breath and nodded. No priests? Oh, thank goodness. Swallowing hurt, but the little medium ran the tip of her tongue across her lips and nodded. "Yes," Miku rasped out and nodded again.

McNinja nodded, laying a comforting hand on her cheek, making quick work of the other ropes, fast efficient slices until she could sit up fully. Slipping an arm under her shoulders, he helped her up off the slab.

"Can you walk okay?"

His mind is a cloudy haze, a rush of noise and the remnants of memories that are quickly fading away into the confusion. His body feels like a formless shadow-- there is the familiar sensation of arms and legs and a neck, but they are strange and new and powerful. He is still in unimaginable agony, skin still stretching and bones still cracking and muscles still ripping and tearing into this new shape-- and yet it flickers, between this ultimate form and a far smaller, more familiar body. He isn't sure which one he is ( ... )

Doc toed his way through the fallen bodies, wincing at so much blood, so many broken limbs and crushed torsos. His doctor instincts scream at him to find survivors and he has to forcibly ignore them.

Not real, not real, not real...

When he finds Steve and the little blond woman, he swallows, sensing immediately that their little liaison looks far easier to disrupt than it actually will be...

"Hey, Steve?"

It's hard to make out precisely what it is standing there next to the woman. Sometimes it is a hulking, hideous behemoth-- shadowy and impossible to really describe other than "huge" and "not human"-- and other times it is just a skinny kid, looking somehow terrified even with that dead-eyed stare on his face. He seems to fade back and forth instantly and randomly.

And there's that strange word again. The new human said it. The females used it too. He hears it, but he can't understand.

Not that it matters. The Queen says so and strokes his hair. He hears her voice, ringing out loud and clear through the noise. She speaks to this interloper, this human who will be crushed just like the rest. "You cannot possibly comprehend the power of Veronica. You have no respect for the one who shall be your Queen," she says, a childlike lilt in her voice. "Allow me to demonstrate for you... my legacy."

She gestures at Doc with the slightest twist of her hand, and the thing next to her makes a horrible roar and lunges forward to attack.

Oh crap.

Doc barely dodges Steve's charge - managing the dodge around him at first, then when Steve swings at him again he makes another leap, all but running up the arm of the hulking creature grabbing at him and vaulting off it's head.

It's hard to see the monster and remember that Steve is in there somewhere.

At the risk of just making the thing even more angry, Doc sees his chance to cut the spell it seems to be under at the source. The little blond Queen is just... standing there.

He ran for her, keeping barely ahead of monster!Steve who had wheeled around to chase him, pulling out his katana in the same lightning fast motion he'd learned by the age of three.

"Please do not let this backfire."

One, two, three more steps and there was the wet SHRRRRRK sound of a body being cleaved in two.

They were everywhere.

Gadget Drones of all types surrounded Fate, and the sounds of battle not far off told her that she wasn't the only one occupied with fighting the machines. If she was able to pause and think for more than a second, she would realize that this shouldn't make sense at all; Scaglietti was locked up(she had seen to that herself), so the manufacturing of the gadget drones should've stopped after they wrapped his case up ( ... )

Doc hadn't seen someone fight fueled by that kind of anger and fear in a long LONG time. It takes him longer than he would like to get close to her, and then there comes the dangerous task of intercepting her. Damn...

"FATE!"

He shouts to get her attention, hand at the hilt of his Katana in case she just wheels on him too in blind anger.

And turn on him she did. The glowing blade of her sword lashed out, aiming straight for this newcomer. Fate didn't know who he was, didn't realize that he wasn't the man she was dead-set on ripping apart, but she didn't care. She was too lost in her emotions to care, and even her magic was reflecting that: the once bright, brilliant yellow of her magical aura was replaced with a dark red; the same color as her eyes. The color of blood.

Crap crap CRAP!

Doc barely parried her first blow, the massive feirce aura around her buffeting him with a disconcerting amount of strength. This was no good. He could probably fight her to a draw, sure, but it would take everything out of him in the process and he might have to hurt her to get her to back down... the only option in front of him was to try to break through her rage mentally.

"Fate, take it easy! You gotta calm down! What about Vivio?!"

Lex found himself sitting in the darkness, strapped to a chair. He struggled against his bindings, but it was to no avail. He shouted, but no one responded.

After several moments, a screen in front of him flickered to life. On it, it showed the first time he met Clark Kent. But it did so from a seemingly God's eye view.

Lex watched, as the last seven years of his life played out before him on the screen. He watched his friendship with Clark grow, only to see it undone by lies and betrayals, until they became bitter rivals. He watched his relationship with Lana rise and fall.

He watched as he was lied to and manipulated. He watched as the answers were ripped through his fingers time and time again. He saw how much good he could accomplish if he wanted to. As well as how truly evil he could be.

But it didn't stop at just the past seven years. It went both further back and forward as well, as it chronicled the relationship between Lex and Lionel. From the meteor shower, to the death of Julian Luthor, the truth about it, and how ( ... )

And then Doc is beside him, munching popcorn very loudly. Leaning over, he whispers in a tone way too loud to be subtle, like a heckler in a theater.

"This movie is way too long. Who even makes a movie this long. Not even Peter Jackson would commit to this." He smiles. "You wanna get out of here and kick the Nightmare King in the head instead?"

Lex would normally turn his head to glare at you, Doc, but the restraints are keeping him facing forward.

"Get me out of this chair," he instructed, his voice startlingly calm at the moment.

"You say that like I was planning on leaving you there or something." Doc sighed, tossing his popcorn aside and stepping behind Lex, making quick work on the restraints, releasing Lex's hands first before the rest of his body.

"There we go, freedom is yours."

Doc is in the temple again, fingers leaving trails on dusty walls as he ventures deeper and deeper in, down winding stairs into the pit of the place.

All his senses, ninja and physician alike, tingle the deeper he goes. Dim voices echo from all corners, ones he recognizes and others he doesn't. When the first ninja-clad zombie staggers around the corner he's barely surprised.

"Oh why is it ALWAYS you guys?"

He balances sword and torch easily at first, but then... then they make it into the depths of the temple and just like that it's not just ninja zombies. It's temple guards, and temple traps, and there's no way he can move fast enough to dodge all three ( ... )
