Well, someone's gotta be the first to post different_skies February 24 2010, 03:04:37 UTC
Kim wasn't one that scared easily. She had had a childhood of privelige, she had been sheltered from war, she had had a rather easy, comfortable life. But even she had her hidden insecurities - those little hidden tidbits that she didn't reveal at any cost.

Kim was afraid of being alone.

And so, she was - floating in formless empty darkness, senses cut off. She couldn't even feel her own body, couldn't hear her own tentative pleas to be let out, couldn't see a thing other than black, black, black.

Totally alone, total sensory deprivation.

Huddling into a ball that she couldn't feel, Kim drifted. And tried to keep the darkness from pressing in and smothering her. And waited.

"Shadow of Fear!"

Jack's fleeing through the dreamscape, slipping from dream to dream as he tries to figure out what's happinging. He can't even tell where he is anymore, but wherever he is it's dark. The Shadow of Fear makes him harder to trap, it's a tool designed for dreamwalking.

A pale boy creeps across Jokimru's dream. Wait... someone's here.

"Hey!"

When there's utterly nothing, a something can be almost deafeningly loud.

Kim jerks, raising her head in astonishment. She could hear him, she could see him, and that something meant there was no longer nothing.

"Um... hi," she tried tentatively, nowhere near her usual exuberance. "Are you... real?"

"Uh, yeah. Are you?"

He peers at Jokimru warily. Jack's seen some weeeeeeird stuff today and it's a good idea to check. Just to be sure.

Chris very seldomly was open with most people with actually good reason. He like most people had his insecurities, his own weak points.

Chris hated to disappoint others: his father, his friends. In the darkness, he saw his own life being tested. Images of his father in marine uniform and images of Kit, Len, and Maya... "No good. What good am I? What good is heart without strength..." He just stared into the empty black space. "I'm no good against Xaviax or to help against the Ohm. Why me?"

"Shadow of Fear!"

Jack and Kim appear in Chris's dream, breaking the barriers with the Shadow of Fear. They're not walking into the dream like most people are in this craziness, they're genuinely jumping from one to another and poofing in.

Oh awesome, there's another guy here. "Hey, you real?" Jack asks him.

"'Cause if you're not, we'll just be on our way," Kim adds, not letting go of Jack's hand. Darkness again? It seems to be a theme, and she'd rather they didn't get separated.

((OOC: How does Chris - Jack - Kim sound for an order?))

Chris blinked several times as two people emerged from nowhere. Chris paid little to Kim but Jack? He seemed familair for some odd reason... He shouldn't be here.

"How do I know you're real?"

[ooc:That sounds good.]

Gwen hit the ground, hard, as the booted foot of her brother impacted against her stomach. The wind rushed out in a single motion leaving her gasping for breath. Jon had always been a good fighter even if she half the time said he punched like a girl. "Poor baby sister," the older blond said as he tugged on his uniform leather gloves. There wasn't a single thread or stitch out of place on the gray Alliance uniform. Each rank badge was shiny against the Verbena sun. Not a speck of blood touched the material from the woman he was openly beating up. "Where are your rebellious friends now to save you? That man of yours? Oh. That's right. He's taking a rather impressive dirt nap along with the rest of the family ( ... )

"I want something to go right. Just once. Just..."
They're all dead.

Garrus stares down at the bodies of his team members, frozen with shock and rage and a hundred other emotions he feels but can't even begin to process. He should have known something was wrong when Sidonis called him for that meeting. He should have known the mercenary gangs would try to pull something when he wasn't around. But no. He was complacent. He was trusting. And now ten good men are dead.

It's all his fault.

(Wake up.)
He crouches down, trying to shelve his emotions and figure out just what the hell happened here. He studies the way the bodies have fallen, the angles of the deep scorch marks blasted across their armor, the way their --

And something is wrong. Something is very wrong, there are more corpses in the alley, their armor doesn't match that of his team members or of the mercenary gangs --

It's Shepard.

(Wake up.)
It's Shepard and Tali and the rest of the crew of the Normandy and he knows he failed them.

He failed all of them.

(Wake up!)It's ( ... )
