Some cheer was definitely needed on this ship. Whatever chance meeting had brought Kaylee and Claudia together in mechanical mischief had also set their minds to turning over what they could possibly do to get some smiles back on the faces of those onboard ( Read more... )

Even though he had the habit of falling asleep in a corner when he went out dance with Dana, Terry had never really complained about it. Really, he liked parties, at least to an extent. It helped when he hadn't just finished up a shift as Batman. So, even though he'd been doing a good job of isolating himself recently, he was willing to go to a party.

He wasn't in costume, though. He got enough of those back home - both on him, and the people he fought. He felt weird not getting at least a little dressed up, though, so he'd at least put on what was, to him, a vintage suit.

He showed up a little early, and took up a place over in the corner, arms crossed. It was the first time in a long while he'd been to any kind of party alone - though, at least here, people wouldn't give him funny looks like most people did back home, because he was the kid who'd been in a gang.

"I used in a gang," Terry quietly blurted out. He'd only told one person on the ship before now, and he'd been keeping it from the rest of the Bats. He'd liked being able to walk around without people giving him dirty looks for being 'the kid with a record' like he did back home. Still, it was one of those things that tended to weigh a person down, and just needed to be talked about sometimes. "It was when I was younger, and I wound up in juvie because of it. And y'know, it was just a few months after I got out that I took the Batsuit. I was still sorta thinking like a criminal. Maybe it was a good thing I turned Powers into Blight, because it made me learn some things. I became Batman to clean up the mess I made."

"If it led to you becoming Batman, I'd say it was a good thing, in the end. Just like me and the gun; I may have set out to commit murder, but as a result, I've been able to help a lot of people. So you were in a gang?" He shrugged. "Big deal. You got out of that life, and into a much better one. I haven't seen you in your natural environment, but I bet you're an awesome Batman."
