Meeting of the Minds

Jun 15, 2008 21:20

After the initial confusion of the pod release, the podlings have been allowed to wander at their discretion around the living area.

However, even though no one really pointed it out, people might find themselves drawn to a large oblong room at the one end. All of the hallways just seemed to lead there, for some strange reason ( Read more... )

Well, so much for finding her costume, though this suit was useful with pockets when she needed them, and she found her belt for her sword. Better yet, she still had her fighting staves and her bow and arrows.

Now Kate was wandering into a larger room, and staring at the artwork. And then the chairs and couches.

...All right, she can stand. Standing's fine.

The Doctor wandered over, twisted off paper bag in hand. His own suit is riddled with pockets for various things; yo-yo, wind-up mouse, stethoscope... He almost didn't look scrawny! Definitely a bonus there.

He twisted the bag open, offered it to her. "I'm the Doctor. Jelly baby?"

Raised eyebrow back at him, and Kate simply replied, "No. Thank you though, and just Doctor? Nothing else?"

Odd codename. Usually it's Dr. Strange, or Dr. Doom, or something more.

The Doctor shrugged, popping one in his own mouth and putting the bag away. He grins, "That's my name! Well, the Doctor, actually, so I suppose 'Doctor' is my nickname."

Kitty Pryde wandered into the room, carrying her laptop and a plush purple dragon, amongst other objects.

She dumped her stuff on one of the oddly shaped chairs and pulled at her jumpsuit.

It still felt weird and uncomfortable.

Can I have my original costume back please?

I wish. He honestly hadn't meant to overhear her thoughts. But the headache was messing with his ability to shield.

Jono had flopped into one of the other chairs, doing his best to ignore the way that they felt because it was just weird but not that much weirder than being pulled into another world to restart a glamour machine. Or following around a pooka.

Or the duck. God, he couldn't forget the duck.

Kitty stared at the direction from which she thought the voice in her head had come.

She gave the guy a dumbfounded look.

Generally speaking, unless it was...well, not that they were around anymore...but unless it was Professor X or Jean Grey's voice...she wasn't all that used to having voices in her head.

What, am I the only non-telepath here?

Jono opened an eye, looking over at her. Then he let his head fall back again. Fuck. Sorry, pet. Guess 'at means you weren't talking out loud, huh?

It took a moment for him to shove himself into a proper sit. This place's playin' havoc with me head. I've had a monster headache since I woke up. Guess 'at means me shields are slippin'. Which wasn't good and Emma would have had given him a bollocking if she knew about it.

Ben peeked into the room.

"Uh, anybody in here?"

"I'm anybody."

Lucca sat cross-legged in one of the fleshy chairs, sketching in a small notebook in her lap. Having retrieved her belongings, she'd raced to record her initial impressions, then tried to sketch a rough map of what she'd seen so far. She'd retrieved her glasses, and her omnipresent helmet was at last returned to it's place of honor. At least it didn't clash too much with her new jumpsuit, which bulged with pockets and clips for her pistol, tools and other gear. Would be handy...if the constant pulsing weren't still driving her nuts.

"Any idea what's going on? Sta'c k'lathpthhh---Sta'c k'ltrr--Gah"--She shrugged in defeat--"Stacy wouldn't give me anything useful."

"I'm gonna say it probably has something to do with aliens, but that's just because it always ends up involving aliens for me." Ben said, sitting down in the seat in front.

"Name's Ben Tennyson."

"As good a theory as any." And come to think of it, that arguably went ditto for her. "For a while, I was concerned that I had caused this somehow."

"Lucca Ashtear." She extended a hand.

"I hope I'm not the only one rather disconcerted by all this," says a large, weathered-looking man who's claimed a spot near the center of the room. He's generally unremarkable to look at it (perhaps but for the subtly odd quality of his right eye), but his mind, should there happen to be any telepaths paying attention, is inhumanly labyrinthine deep - though his surface thoughts do little more than echo what he's said.

"Nope, definitely not the only one." Danny said as looked at his surroundings.

"This place just oozes creepy."

"It doesn't feel right," Wednesday says solidly, looking Danny over - his head twisted to the right just slightly. "There's nothing... made here. No proper craftsman's heart to it."

"Yeah," Danny agreed, "It's kind of like everything here is alive. In fact I am least moderately sure the suits are alive too."

The trip to what 'Stacy' called the 'Possessions and Weapons Locker' proved to be more rewarding than Sam had expected--which, given 'Stacy's' concept of answering questions and providing 'clothes,' wasn't much. After arriving, he'd found a odd-looking 'locker' with some of his things placed inside. Unfortunately, none of them were his clothes, which meant he was stuck wearing the dark green--so dark that it appeared black in low light--jumpsuit thing that he'd been slathered in by the touchy-feely tentacle room ( ... )

Kara Thrace wandered into the room, her recently-found bag over her shoulder, and scanned the room's occupants for people who might look like they knew what was going on. A couple of young girls, a skinny guy with a goofily cheerful expression, a kid, an old guy who looked like some kind of refugee, guy in a mask...a winner was Sam! "Hey," she said, tilting her chin up in a half-nod of greeting. "Did you just get slimed and tentacled too? Got any information on what the frak this is all about?"

While she was starting to relax, the stress of the whole situation was still fraying at her edges and her calm was definitely only surface deep. She glanced back to see if Harper was still following.

Yeah, yeah, he was there. Not paying much attention, given the surroundings, but there. Course, he'd likely be wandering off before too long to poke at the giant... statue... thing, but only one he decided it wasn't going to eat anybody.

Kara followed his gaze around the room, blinking as she sighted the huge statues, the faces in the walls...she shuddered, and forcefully moved her eyes back to Sam. This frakking place...her skin crawled inside her living jumpsuit, but even the thought of the thing set her on edge again.

She took a couple of deep breaths through her nose. She wouldn't freak out. She was stronger than this.
