Grounding and Centering

Katara had her time to laugh and her time to cry after finding out about her world. She'd had fun with her Outsider friends, she'd broke down in front of a person she would rather have not done that with and she was still adjusting to recent events. Throughout all that had happened, there was still the silver lining: Toph was here, and now there ( Read more... )

"Hey." It was all Static said as he walked in. After everything that'd happened lately, startign the team, Karaoke, getting Dick to agree to work with the team, and the the repairs... he was beat. He'd intended to come up to the sensoriums to just..relax with a few of his favorite Titans lawn ornaments (like Eddie. Static was still hoping he was here, somewhere...pulled from the time stream before he died). But, stepping into Katara's imagery was just as nice. He tread carefully; this seemed like a sacred place, kind of.

"Hey Static!" Katara said, and closed her eyes, breathing in: the water got a little warmer around them, but not uncomfortably hot. This was just so the dampness wouldn't affect him too much: she wanted him to be as comfortable as she was here. When that was done she sat back in a cross legged position, and looked up at him.

"You doing okay?"

"Well, I've certainly been worse." It was sad, really; he hadn't been on the ship that long, but he'd already managed to bond to a few people enough to lie to them. Being the team leader meant not having weakness; no cracks in the stone.

"I was actually heading out here to reflect myself. Nice digs." He said, looking around. "Fish are a nice touch. Very...yin-yang...ey."

"I'm sure you have," Katara said, watching him carefully. She was't like Toph: she couldn't sense a lie like she could. But she did have an idea that Static was trying to keep his true feelings to himself. She figured that if that made him comfortable for now, she would let it be. Even she knew when to back off.

Katara had to laugh though. "They aren't my 'digs.' This is the Spirit Oasis back in the Northern Water Tribe. As for the fish, they aren't just that. Their names are Tui and La, and they're earthbound gods in our world."

Katara has been here longer than she expected. The meditation works, and was helped with all the people that came to visit her. Still, it is pretty tranquil and Katara wanted nothing more than to curl up and rest now, so she does just that.

And then she started to dream...

Today's daily rounds of the sensoriums took Sheeana to a place thick with the scent of water. She choked a second, forced her alveolae open. It took a few moments to adjust.

Cresting a ridge in complete silence, she saw the girl from the Outsiders, skin dark like a Fremen, in a meditation posture she recognized. It reminded her somewhat of herself as an acolyte.

She waited for her to finish, to come out of the trance. She could wait a long time.

It took a good few minutes before she realized she wasn't alone: the person who was here must be someone that was very good at being silent. Katara was a fairly skilled martial artist, and it would take someone equally skilled to fool her. So she slowly opened one eye and recognized the woman she'd seen during the fight, and the one that had been playfully bantering with Slobo.

"Hi," Katara said, waving. "Did you want to join me?"

Sheeana smiled and sat down cross-legged near her. Grass tickled her skin, an entirely new sensation. "Perhaps. I prefer not to meditate somewhere artificial. I would like you to tell me about this place though."

Katara shrugged good natured. "I might start in the Statuary, although there aren't really that many places that aren't artificial on this ship. But this place is one of the holiest places in the entire North Water Tribe. Like where I'm from, the Northern Water Tribe is almost entirely covered with ice, except for here. Those fish that you see swimming in the water? that's Tui and La, former spirits who chose to have mortal forms to benefit mankind. They literally represent the moon and ocean, the push and pull we benders first learned our art from."
